My car's license registration expired a couple of months ago and I need to get it inspected before going to the tax office to register it. Anybody know of any inspection place around Austin that is open? Just randomly driving around my hood it looks like all of them are closed.

Dealerships are open. Wonder if any service departments do inspection?  Seems like most mechanics are still open here in Houston.

My dads Lambs Store at 183/Braker is open.  Ask for Pat.

Perfect. I need this as well. Thx!!!

Actually hang tight til tomorrow he said, they have some new software/system/something like that that the machine that does inspections won't work until April 1st (tomorrow)

Read the post above regarding registration rules being suspended. There is no need to get an inspection.

Like APD won't still use it as a reason to pull you over and find probable cause.

Especially if you are wearing grey slacks and have a dog with you.

start coughing as soon as he walks up.

I got two cars inspected this week in Round Rock.  No line, no waiting.  Been going to this place for 25+ years and I want them to be there when I need to get the other two vehicles inspected in Sept and Dec.  I wait outside while they're inspecting and wipe the car down with a Clorox wipe when he's done.

That's interesting, last couple times i got an inspection I didn't even get out of the car.  They had me pull into the bay, and told me to pretty brake, turn signal, etc.

As far as I can tell, you can get inspections if you want to, but the waiver on vehicle registration renewal is still in effect.

Per this linkTHE TEMPORARY WAIVER OF VEHICLE TITLE AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The tag on your windshield is for registration, not inspection.  You only need the inspection to renew the registration.  You can get an inspection, and you can renew your registration, but the waiver should prevent you from being ticketed if you prefer to wait.
