2021 season, meh..

I was hoping the article said construction would begin immediately after the Spring game and conclude in time for the '18 home opener.

Are there plans to demolish Mike Myers? Our players need a quick path to the practice fields.

Fuck soccer and track.

How many people will the stadium seat after this is complete?

Machinator posted this in the spring football thread a couple days ago. Very exciting. Maybe we'll finally sound like 100,000

This project is a part of Texas Athletics’ ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade their current facilities to provide the best facilities and services for their student athletes, fans, and staff with a critical eye to the latest in student athlete safety, well-being, and rehabilitation. The scope of this project is proposed to include new exclusive suites, clubs, open air concourses, restroom facilities, new coaches offices, a banquet kitchen, premium, Loge, and student seating, private game-day parking, branding graphics, Longhorn Network areas, Sports Medicine/Nutrition areas, hydrotherapy, and other support spaces. The preliminary Total Project Cost (TPC) for this project is $140,000,000. The TPC includes a Construction Cost Limitation (CCL) for the Construction Manager at Risk of $100,000,000. Fees, furnishings, equipment, other work, miscellaneous expenses, and contingencies make up the balance of the TPC.

After we start winning next season we'll have loads of cash sitting around

Enclose that bitch and put a dome on it.

Yup.  And disband the football team and focus all of those resources on becoming the best college hockey team in the country!

Enough to put texags into a fury.

CDC said no grass for now.... so when?

2021 could be a GOALDEN YEAR..... cuckmaster baggins will be entering his 4th year with no titles at all, and aggy will not have "more seats" than the sips...... and they are out of gas and out of runway.  it's going to burn them alive.

..... also the overhangs at pyle are entirely cosmetic and do nothing to hold in sound because The Zone and The Dish capture and radiate sound up and away from the field.... at least... until The Dish collapses from a Sandstrorm Harmonic attack..... prediction on the number of dead:

twelve hundred and twelve.

The stadium will be half empty instead of a quarter empty.

Wikipedia says 115,000...  Will they ever sell out a game again?  Damn!

I thought y'all were going to put those resources to Quidditch?

So you're saying it's a trap?

115K is a shitload of people, but at least it'll be finished.. the south endzone bleachers just look terrible.

They won’t meltdown, just overreact and add seats to stairs and seats on top of seats and seats in aisles and bathrooms so that they have more.

I'll be shocked if they add a ton of new seats.   Really doesn't make sense to add anything other than premium seating

Hm... What is the completion date?

Will there be a public release of the design prior to construction?

Looks like aggy will be getting out the tape measure and adjusting the width of their seats.

I thought it was stupid when the ags added capacity and it will be stupid if we do it also.  We should add premium seats / suites but NOT add overall capacity.   If we want to build the south stands in a permanent fashion to look more like the rest of the stadium (except west upper deck) that's great.  Sure there will be more demand once we are winning more consistently but in general less people are attending games across the sports landscape and if we think we are exempt to that and add seats we should get used to something like this in all but the biggest of games in the best of years.

We should definitely add more capacity for the wine and cheese crowd that occasionally glances at the action on the field from the climate controlled sealed suite.

Only if Austin hosts the world cup..

They can put a few rows of seats on their staircases to nowhere..

Maybe we're moving everyone over 75 to the south end zone

Winning cures everything. If Texas starts being Texas 2000-2009, that place will be packed no matter how big it gets.

Suck and you have empty seats.

I would expect the majority of new seats in the bowled in section to be premium seating, while eventually expanding leg room for the rest of the stadium attendees...

The noise from 75,000 will reflect off of the empty bleachers quite nicely.

This right here.

They need to add whatever they need to add to lower ticket prices. Don't think that stadium modifications will have anything to do with it, but the real hardcore fans can't afford to go to games and they wonder why half the crowd shows up and doesn't pay attention to the game...

From what I can tell, the document says they're adding some premium and student seating, but most will be filled up with suites and coaches offices overlooking the field, a hydrotherapy pool, and some other training offices. It also says they're removing the Godzillatron, but doesn't specify replacing it, or putting it back up.

ive never seen the word loge used so many times and I now realise I hate the word loge.

wait until the "loge" "flashes" from a 30 thousand foot look at it.

Most of the south side will be suites, club, and premium seating. We will lose a good deal of sections 1 and 32 to wrap, so I’d expect capacity to remain mostly static. If we do add capacity, we’d likely counter it by changing benches to chair backs elsewhere in the stadium.

Nobody gives a shit if capacity is higher than aggy, except aggy. Even we only care in so much as watching their conniption over it.

in summation, enclosed space, more high end seating, more club seating and common area, less GA seating, net neutral overall seating.
