February 9Feb 9 Watching the OG. Jessica is foine. Young Virginia Madsen made me go full Brent Musberger. Sean Young aint no slouch, either. Seeing them on the big screen back in the day would be worth the price of admission. Hell, Sting would make it move a bit.

February 16Feb 16 Sorry for the bookfag bump but I just finished reading Dune: Messiah. That could be a really cool movie, and I hope they don’t make the Hobbit mistake and try to break it up into two movies (it’s half the length of Dune). I had heard the books fall off in quality: are any of the rest worth reading? I kinda liked how this one ended. Man, I don't know. I just finished Messiah myself, and I don't see the action of the first novel/movie. I can see that turning some folks off.It feels very much like Prophecy. Fortunately, I really liked Prophecy.

But yeah… no giant battle sequences.

Spoiler There's plenty of battles referenced and alluded to from the Fremen. I think them seeing an ocean for the first time during their war will have to be included. Smart way to get around not having a bunch of action without "making stuff up" is just actually show stuff that was mentioned. Still though...it's more a toned down ending and book overall than the final act of Dune(Dune 2 in the movie sense) so yeah I could see a separate set of fans loving it for being more "grounded and not huge special FX battles" while others are more like "wish we could get more" Children of Dune has even less action IRC
July 8Jul 8 https://variety.com/2025/film/news/dune-3-title-imax-cameras-1236448953/ "Dune: Part 3", not Dune Messiah as previously thought. Still gonna be shot for IMAX though which will be allsome. What a wonderful time for a cautionary tale about messianic leaders backed by religious extremists
