I seent 'em!

Tonight!

In 78676!

Seems early, but this is great.  Nothing better than sitting outside on a warm dark night, drinking beer and watching the fireflies.

Completely agree. Have not seen them yet this year in the Salado area but looking forward to them.

Time to load up on all those anti-mosquito things - lotion, spray, cintronella, lemongrass, lavender, and lasers.

Lightning bugs is the preferred nomenclature.

Fireflies?

Puh-leeze... "lightning bugs."

(they come in cycles, we're in an up cycle right now but alas, they'll probably decrease in the next few years)

Met a girl one summer years ago while camping at Navarro Mills, the lightning bugs were abundant and she was mind blown by them. I don't recall where exactly she was from but she had never seen them before. She said that she'd read of them but kinda thought they were some mythical thing or something people just joked about like snipe hunting.

I'm in Barton Hills / Zilker and the last few years we've had tons of lightning bugs- always awesome to see.

So, they call them fireflies where there aren't very many Lightnin' Bugs.

I don't know what happened, but we seriously have more of these little buggers in my yard right now than I've ever seen anywhere in my life.

I went outside for a couple of minutes to watch, and had several of them land on me.

They seem to love my basil plants. The swarm them at dusk every night.

I've seen exactly two (2) lightning bugs here in Brushy Creek (78717) in 23 years.

Living in South St. Louis during the mid 1950s we had jillions of them around.

I saw a bunch in New Braunfels the other night. They don't ever seem to make it here down 46 West only 20 minutes away.

Dammit Beau Vine, I hate being lumped in with ousux on anything!

With all this rain, there should be as many of these little critters the next two months as men who the Kardashians go through in a week.

Saw the first ones of the year recently.

Yep, kids caught a couple outside last night. With this wet weather, we’re gonna have a jillion, I hope.

Lightning bugs are black?

Saw one last night just as the thunder & lightning began. Felt like a good omen. Love seeing every night when I let the dog out in the backyard for her last pee.

Hadn't seen any yet, then 30 minutes before the storm hit last night, they were everywhere.

Quite a few here in Salado last night.

saw several wednesday night in round rock - 20-30 maybe.  have not seen any in years so was an uplifting sight.
