Zeta still has a few hours to intensify before it begins to
move over the cooler waters of the northern Gulf of Mexico, and
southwesterly shear is likely to increase by the time the center
reaches the coast. Even if a little weakening begins later today,
however, Zeta should maintain hurricane strength through landfall.
The official intensity forecast is near the high end of the model
guidance.

So, high Cat 1 (that's the "high end of the model".  Close enough for horseshoes or hurricane intensity forecasts.  Potent sucker but not in the same league as the others, which I know for that area doesn't mean squat.  Still it's better than "worse than the others."

I'm shocked at how fast he/she/it moved across the Gulf.  That has to be some kind of record going from Southern Coast to Northern Coast in, what, 24 hours or less?

Is there anywhere to watch coverage? None of the cable news stations seem to think this is worth covering and local Atlanta news isn’t ready to go wall-to-wall yet (but schools are canceled tomorrow).

Youtubetv doesn’t have the weather channel.

It's 2020.  The chances that we end up with an ice stormicane at some point are non-zero.

She was my favorite dancer at Spearmint Rhino.

So much for wind shear and a tropical storm.

From my brother in law in NO - they’re in the eye:

A little late to the thread, but this site has live Weather Channel for future reference. I assume you're a fellow cord cutter.

Our power went out at 4:30. Youngest piled into bed with us at 4:31.

Finally got an update on when we should have power restored: Monday at 11pm. That will be four days and 19 hours.

Generators sold out everywhere.

2020 has managed to ruin Halloween on a Saturday.

Damn, that sucks Buzzrock. Now is when you need that Bulleit more than ever.

Halloween, full moon, no power, everyone with lit candles all over the house...2020...can we really rule out demonic invasion? Might be a pretty epic Halloween

Just stay away from old gypsy women traveling through town....and carry some silver with you...

For some inexplicable reason, my wife bought 10 bags of ice for a party tomorrow night. I filled two fridge-freezers and my deep freeze. If you can get to Austin in the next few hours I have three bags you can take

Hurrah. 2.5 days later, and 4 hours after I went and got a generator, the power is back.

Well damn.  I have a lot of family in Honduras (San Pedro Sula and Tegu).  Hopefully as a depression when it gets there there aren't a bunch of mudslides and flooding.

After Laura I told my wife that I wasn't taking the plywood off of our windows (some of the south-facing) until Christmas. Looks like that proclamation still stands.

But is the trampoline still staked down? That’s what important.

Staked and standing tall. Like a beacon of bouncing delight.

Isn't the "Beacon of Bouncing Delight" a featured performer at a strip club in Sulphur?

go home ETA, you're drunk.....and not looking at both the Keys and then maybe the Panhandle

They can handle a storm with ease, if a TS were to hit NY....

This is one zig zagging SOB.

Started east to west.

Now headed west to north east.

Then it’ll shift again.... and most likely shift back once more.

Drunk indeed.

10 or 15 years ago, wasn't there a hurricane that went across Florida, and then turned completely around and did a victory lap?

This is kinda like that.

Damnit, water around our house is still up quite a bit from the storms that have come around the tip of Florida the last couple months. Rainfall numbers coming along with this one are concerning.

I’ll probably vote for it if it is.

At this point, I won't be surprised if a frozen hurricane hits NYC on New Year's and spawns a sharknado.
