April 13, 20187 yr I eagerly await the outrage about the blackwashing of the traditionally white Little John character.

April 13, 20187 yr 35 minutes ago, futureman said: how many blacks were there in britain in the middle ages? Go watch a few episodes of Britannia for some lulz. The "Druid tribes" were basically ran by warrior women who were crack bowshots, pierce Roman armor and never missed. Oh, and the Roman legions had lots of Africans back then too.
April 13, 20187 yr At least he’s not a transgender lesbian of color. I have no problem with any of those things but to pretend they would have been “tolerant” of those things in the Middle Ages is silly.
April 13, 20187 yr At least this isn't an all chick* version. I don't know how much longer we'll be able to say that. *not counting lesbo porn all chick version, which probably exists.

About the closest I've heard of is Louis XIV's brother, but it appears that was tolerated because it made him less of a threat for the throne.

Yeah, that's just a garbage angle for a manufactured conflict that never existed in any version of this story. I thought the Kevin Costner/Morgan Freeman/Christian Slater/Hans Gruber Robin Hood was the shit when I was a kid. I saw it recently and couldn't help but laugh at how cheesy it seems as an adult. Still, it was the catalyst for a lot of adventures in the woods on our farm, and my brother, cousin, and myself hurting each other with sticks.
April 17, 20187 yr Men in Tights was stark evidence that Mel Brooks’ film days were over. I thought the Kevin Costner movie was funnier.
April 17, 20187 yr It's not a Robin Hood movie without a Bryan Adams ballad. Shit. Too late. Edited April 17, 20187 yr by Chuychanga
April 17, 20187 yr Errol Flynn will always be Robin Hood.....oh and Gilligan's skipper's dad will always be Little John.

April 17, 20187 yr There has never been a good Robin Hood based film...unless you count the Beverly Hillbillies episode. Edited April 17, 20187 yr by DougO

April 19, 20187 yr 40 minutes ago, TyphoonSe7en said: The 2010 Russell Crowe Robin Hood is God fucking awful. That is all. Robin Hood Men In Tights is probably the best one not starring Errol Flynn. Except maybe for the Disney animated version. Mssr Hood from Shrek could probably support an entire flick, but otherwise, Robin Hood in Hollywood has been an awful, awful mess. Which sucks, because it's a great story.
April 20, 20187 yr Yeah outside of Kevin Costner's shitty non-English accent, I don't know why his Robin Hood movie gets so much shit. Yeah Costner's accent sucks, but outside of that it's a good solid action adventure type movie from the early 90s. You had excellent turns by Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott as the villains and good solid efforts from Mary Elizabeth Masteranonio, Christan Slater and Morgan Freeman, among others. (Also yes there was a cheesy 90s Bryan Adams ballad attached, but outside of the closing credits it's not in the movie and so shouldn't count against it.) And speaking of music, another plus for the movie is Michael Kamen's excellent score: Edited April 20, 20187 yr by oSuJeff97
April 20, 20187 yr Also the cameo at the end by Sean Connery. And the line, "Fuck me, he cleared it!"
April 20, 20187 yr Costner was gawdawful. So was Slater. So was Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Outside of them, though, there were no problems with this movie. (Morgan Freeman almost saved it; so did Alan Rickman. But the three mentioned above stunk so badly that even they couldn't pull it off.)
April 20, 20187 yr 1 hour ago, oSuJeff97 said: Yeah outside of Kevin Costner's shitty non-English accent A horribly shitty accent can really fuck up a movie sometimes. Costner did it for Robin Hood. Keanu Reeves did it for The Devil's Own, although his acting dediciency didn't help much either.
