March 13, 20214 yr Down 20-12 after 1. Texas shooting a sizzling 29%. Really helpful when the projected #1 pick gets 2 fouls in 2.5 min.ย ย

March 13, 20214 yr Texas down 37-30 at half. We really let it slip away. Was 31-28 and we just blew the last 2 minutes.ย
March 13, 20214 yr Iโm intrigued by this team without Charli. They focus so hard on getting her the ball they pass up open shots. When she sits, they shoot.ย
March 13, 20214 yr 52-40 Baylor to the 4th. ย Another lesson in futility against Mulkey. ย Vic better be hitting the portal for some guards who can score to go along with the 3 All-Americans coming inย Edited March 13, 20214 yr by Js1

March 15, 20214 yr UCLA is the 3 seed weโd face in round 2. 5 losses - Arizona, Stanford twice, Oregon State and Washington State. No one has Charlieโs height on that rosterย ย
March 15, 20214 yr The first 2 games are very winnable. Maryland would cream us in the Sweet 16 but if Vic gets there, Iโd be very impressedย
March 16, 20214 yr Honestly we couldn't have asked for a better draw. A mid-major first round matchup thats not a Dakota school, and a UCLA team that we have a height advantage against. If Charli can stay out of foul trouble against UCLAย we have a decentย shot at a Sweet 16 run

If Charli can stay out of foul trouble against UCLAย we have a decentย shot at a Sweet 16 run Charlie Creme may have been insistent we were a 7 seed, but Vic said after the Baylor semifinal game that this team is a 6 seed and he was right.ย And his former squad, with all the talent he amassed and left at MSU, didn't make the tournament and is not even a first four replacement team if someone gets knocked out by COVID before the tournament starts. Coaching matters so much.ย We were a projected 9 seed last year with Charli, Joyner, Sutton, Celeste Taylorย and Higgs, coached by Aston.ย We lost 3 senior startersย and improved our team to aย 6 seed this year, coached by Vic.ย ย
March 16, 20214 yr Doing a little more digging into the UCLA roster: 6'3 SO Forward Masikewich 6'4 FR Forward Bessoir 6'4 Fr Forward Anstey That is the extent of their height.ย Maikewich hasn't played at all. Bessoir has played in 20 games (2 starts), 20.3 mpg, 40.1% shooter, 31.3% 3 point shooter, 49% FT shooter, 7.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 13 blocks Anstey hasn't played at all.ย Looks like Close usually starts Michaela Onyenwere (SR. 6'0 guard), Charisma Osborne (SO 5'9 guard), Natalie Chou* (R-SR. 6'1 guard), Lauryn Miller (SR 6'1 forward) and Lindsay Corsaro (R-JR. 6'1 guard) So they are going to likely try to counter Charli Collier with Lauryn Miller, who is giving up 4 inches of height) and Bessoir, who is a freshman.ย If we get to UCLA, Vic should start Collier/Ebo because I don't think they can be guarded by UCLA's interior players. At all. \ Teams are similar, offensively - UCLA shoots 40.2% overall and 35.6% from three and 72.8% FT.ย Average 71.95 ppg. Win the rebound game 39.6-33.9. 56 blocks.ย Texas shoots 40.6% overall and 32.1% from three and 69.9% FT.ย Average 69.9 ppg.ย Win the rebound game 37.7 - 34.8.ย 92 blocks. It's going to come down to Texas not trying to get into a 3 point shooting contest with UCLA (it would be ugly regardless) and feed Ebo and Collier and have them get offensive boards against the smaller and less experienced UCLA frontline.ย
March 16, 20214 yr Obviously I'm not that worried about 17-11 Bradley, who only made it because top-seeded Missouri St. opted out of the conf tourney.ย The only ranked team they've played all season is Missouri State twice and they lost 56-62 and 62-75.ย They played no P5 teams.ย They will struggle with Texas' talent and size.ย ย Their biggest player (6'4 C) only playsย 5.3 mpg.ย Otherwise, their front court is usually a 6'0 F and a 5'11 Fย (25.7 and 20 mpg). I actually, as much as I criticize her, expect Collier to dominate the first 2 rounds.ย She actually has 2 inches on the tallest frontcourt players for Maryland too - but they'll shoot us out of the gym.ย They shoot 48.9%, 40.8% from three and 79.3% FT.ย They average 91 ppg.ย We will likely see Katie Benzan (50% 3PT shooter) who committed to transfer in from Harvard to play for Karen and then backed out and Chloe Bibby, who played for Vic.ย Edited March 16, 20214 yr by Js1
March 17, 20214 yr Remember reading a story about how ou was about to scrap their womenโs bball program because they were so bad when Coale who as the head coach at Norman high begged the AD for the job. ย
March 17, 20214 yr Also no clue who they will hire.ย They can stay in house and go with Assistant Coach Colton Coale (yay nepotism!) or former Missouri State assistant coach Jackie Stiles, they can stay in the family and in house with Courtney Paris, they can be dicks and try to steal current Texas Associate Head Coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett, who played at OU from 2001-2005.ย
March 22, 20214 yr Not a single upset by a lower seed on the first day. SFA got closest but GT came back and won in OT.ย
March 22, 20214 yr Womens tournament is routinely chalkier than the menโs tournament. It still baffles me that a #16 over a #1 happened on the womenโs side before the menโsย

March 22, 20214 yr Third upset. Belmont (12) over Gonzaga (5) So a 12-5, 14-3 and 11-6 upset today so farย
March 22, 20214 yr Arkansas beat Baylor earlier this season so that was a very surprising loss. Hopefully the rest of today is chalk, for our sake
March 22, 20214 yr I take that back aggy losing to a #15 seed would be funny as hell. I hope it happens

March 23, 20214 yr Collier is showing more toughness in the paint than I have seen from her in a long time. Every game could be her last game for UT and she's playing like it so far Edited March 23, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007
