Hey I don't even know why I'm doing this but just thought I would share   I had stroke 22 days ago .

I've been moved to a rehab center in Tomball It's not the nicest since it happened after all my contracts were canceled and I didn't have insurance Don't know why I'm saying this It's just I always enjoyed the banter and distraction this board provided

No heart condition or any obvious reason

If your spiritual type I certainly would appreciate your prayers

get better man.

Yeah, definitely this.  Sorry to hear it.  Hope you still have the ability to scratch your junk the way you used to.  I think that's important.

I can't imagine how bad a Tomball rehab center for uninsureds must be.

T&Ps brotha. I'll down a longneck for you tonight.

Hang in there dude and thanks for sharing. Reminds us all that there are more important things in life than arguing over politics or football.

Good luck mate, do the rehab exercises plus more, you will regret it if you don't.

Not at all happy that you had a stroke, but that you posted for us to acknowledge your need for a connection is definitely within bounds.

If you need some other commiseration & are feeling the effects, look to the "depression" thread.

Best regards & listen to what your physical therapists tell you to do - then actually DO it.

Damn...that’s scary. How old are you? Glad you survived and hope recover well.

Good health before this. I'm scared

Hope you get better soon. Do you have family and/or friends nearby to help get you through this?

Team 53 checking in.

Your cognitive skills seem on point unless someone is typing for you.

Do you remember what comes out of a chinaman's ass?

All the best for a swift recovery.  We're getting close to the halfway point in 2020.

Stress is a real thing and can have very strong impacts on health.

Sorry to hear about your stroke.  I assume they checked your blood pressure and such?

Sorry to hear about the stroke. Hope you get well.

Also, fuck the cost of health care in this country.

Git well ASAP!

Friend of mine, age 62 & diabetic former heavy smoker,  had his second stroke in February.... got stuck in a shitty rehab center in Round Rock, went back into the hospital, then out again to a good rehab center in South Austin. After three weeks there he improved a lot and was released to go home.
if he can make good progress, you can too.

Good Thoughts and stay positive.

Dude man, hope you get better. Lots of folks seem to.

Be careful who you hang out with as you recover. My uncle learned to talk again in New Orleans, seriously, after that he wore a bracelet saying he wasn't drunk, he just had had a stroke.

Maybe it'll help if you learn how to do something you never did before. I don't think it matters what it is, anything new helps hook up new pathways.

Shit. Just read this. Hang in there Owlvis. Who knows, maybe you can get a handy or two from the night nurse.

Keep your spirits up.  You will be back in action sooner than you know.  We will keep you in our Prayers over here.

Thank you so much for all the warm wishes and kind thoughts and encouragement You know it's crazy but it really does help to know that even strangers want to see me beat this thing

Stroking Johnson

I have started a go fund me so we can get you a stripper, if we can’t raise enough cash we will just have to send South Austin’s mom.

Dude, he’s in Tomball. We can get him a Tomball stripper for the change in our couch cushions.

Oh man, how tha fuck am I just seeing this?
Good luck in recovery.
Just think if you lost feelings in your hand your new jerk sessions can be called “gettin some strange”

Sorry to hear of your stroke. Hope you recover quickly. Do you know if, while you were in the hospital, they documented either you having atrial fibrillation or do what’s called a “bubble study” echo to evaluate for a PFO?  You’re pretty young, not knowing any of your medical history.

All the tests I'm aware of so no heart condition don't have high blood pressure barely high cholesterol which fluctuates anyway.

I got a third Covid test there must be a reason for that I understand there have been some cases of strokes occurring to healthy individuals who had the flu

Or it could just have been stress

Hang in there. Beat it like an Aggy dreaming about sheep. Recover like a Mack brown team in the 4th quarter.

That’s kind of what I’m getting at. You’re pretty young to have major atherosclerotic disease if you don’t have major risk factors. We’ve seen an uptick of hypercoagulability (in my arena, that usually equates to increased PE’s), so that’s why I asked if you had a bubble study to eval for PFO.

What were the symptoms you presented with?

Listen to the fat guy. He may be able to help. Medically speaking, I have heard bangin' helps rehab. So if you remember how and with whom, I highly recommend it. Ahh, just wait for the Tomball stripper. She can help you relearn the skilz.

Just saw the below article today on a newsfeed (excerpts). (lengthy article,  but informative read)   Seems your physicians are aware and you are receiving good care,  owlvis.

Blood clots that can cause strokes, heart attacks and dangerous blockages in the legs and lungs are increasingly being found in COVID-19 patients, including some children. Even tiny clots that can damage tissue throughout the body have been seen in hospitalized patients and in autopsies, confounding doctors' understanding of what was once considered mainly a respiratory infection.

Some conditions that make some COVID-19 patients vulnerable to severe complications, including obesity and diabetes, can increase clot risks. But many authorities believe how the virus attacks and the way the body responds both play a role.

"COVID-19 is the most thrombotic (clot-producing) disease we've ever seen in our lifetime," said Dr. Alex Spyropoulos, a clot specialist and professor at Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research in Manhasset, New York.

Clotting has been seen in other coronavirus infections, including SARS, but on a much smaller scale, he said.

Scientists believe the coronavirus enters the body through enzyme-receptors found throughout the body, including in cells lining the inside of blood vessels. Some theorize that it may promote clotting by somehow injuring those vessels as it spreads. That injury may cause a severe immune response as the body tries to fight the infection, resulting in inflammation that may also damage vessels and promote clotting, said Dr. Valentin Fuster, director of Mount Sinai Heart hospital in New York.

Another symptom is lack of punctuation obviously.

The fight of your life? You’re trying to save the community rec center from an evil developer? You should stage a dance contest.

Well has it been stated here and by the professionals I have 6 months to a year to recover my speech is that about 90%, my leg is probably at 50 and the arm at10:. I think that means I have 150% to go but then again I had a stroke and was never good at math

That ain’t your wackin’ arm, is it? Be tough for a man your age to have to learn to yank it all over again. But we believe in you.

I guess the prospect of buying something that costs an arm and a leg suddenly doesn't seem so unreasonable.
