October 1, 20205 yr If we can get through the KU matches with 2 wins and be 4-0, I like our chances of taking the conf crown. Baylor is def struggling with the loss of so many seniors from last year - Stafford, Wulf and Milana particularly. They are struggling to set with Locken out and it shows in their setting. Pressley is struggling without the connection. Their serve receive is pretty meh and KU's OH didn't have much trouble with the Baylor block.
October 1, 20205 yr Texas so far in 2020: .387 hitting % 16.7 kills per set 15.4 assists per set, 0 ball handling errors 11.7 digs per set 2.5 blocks per set (1 solo, 33 assists, 3 errors) 6 aces, 27 serving errors Baylor so far in 2020: 329 hitting % 13.2 kills per set 11.9 assists per sets, 2 ball handling erros 8.5 digs per set 2 blocks per set (9 solo, 13 assists, 3 errors) 9 aces, 23 serving errors Yoanna Pressley - .091 hitting percentage so far. WOW. This is the 2020 Big12 preseason POY, the 2019 AVCA National POY and the 2019 Big 12 POY.

October 2, 20205 yr Texas wins. They conspicuously refuse to participate in the Eyes. It’s weird. I guess we’ll get used to it soon.

October 2, 20205 yr Volleyball is one sport where I can remember all players, including black girls, unreservedly singing the Eyes after matches. Last season in fact. Hanging off each other and with young fans and whatnot. Tears in their eyes on senior night.
October 2, 20205 yr Tweet and story from AAS below. Did they acknowledge the fans in attendance in any manner ? Not sure staying on the court in a huddle accomplishes that. As Twice indicates, will be some disappointed fans, young and old. https://www.hookem.com/texas-volleyball/20201002/longhorn-volleyball-players-explain-didnt-acknowledge-eyes-texas/
October 2, 20205 yr We were much better from the service line last night. KU only blocked 10 balls, but they slowed down many more to keep rallies going, which is what led to our lower hitting %. Also, Logan handled service reception better. She knows teams are going to pick on her all year. Edited October 2, 20205 yr by Pogo

Our 2 international kids are delayed - Parra (Mexico) and Malual (Italy). Cabello is on campus, as she is already rostered. Capri Davis (Nebraska transfer) is gone already. Here is a tweet from 9/23, Cabello is the one in shorts and slides in the first, third and fourth photo. This season doesn't count for eligibility, so she may be sitting out the fall? If she's rehabbing, like Madison Williams, it's likely she doesn't play all fall. The NCAA tournament doesn't start until April. Sounds like Shook will graduate in December, and since this season doesn't count eligibility-wise, she may still play the rest of the fall at Texas, as I do not believe she can transfer after the fall "season" and then play somewhere else in the spring "season" because of the weird COVID split season.

We're going to need her to sub in for Jhenna late in a tight match as some point when she's on the front row.

October 2, 20205 yr Gotta say our new Libero, Madison, seems to be a really nice addition. She quietly and smoothly gets to a lot of balls. Cat got to a lot of balls, too, but lots of tumbling and sliding. Sydney seems to lack just a bit of range, so was strained a little also.

In defense of Sydney and Cat, I'm not sure our defense has been tested very hard yet, but it has been conspicuously inconspicuous when it's usually good for quite a few wtf moments in any given match.

O’Brien is legit. I cannot believe how lucky we were to get her. And technically 2 years bc this season doesn’t count It feels like she’s always where she’s supposed to be Edited October 3, 20205 yr by Js1
