Texas had a great season but ran into a better team. It happens, no shame.

We likely return everyone too. Unless MOB hangs it up (again)

  • Here's my Kentucky scouting: They are athletic as hell, BUT they are not as tall as Wisconsin or Nebraska.  Their block should not provide huge issues in terms of intimidating Fields/Eggleston.

Kentucky just the better team. Great season ladies. Petty much everyone coming back next year.

Awesome year. Young team, hopefully back to this point next year.

How did voters see Wisky as better than this Kentucky team.

UK had nerves and then absolutely settled in. Lucky we weren’t swept

Stumler just too good tonight.

Won't have the benefit of Jamie Morrison next year, will we?

And didn't help that all the corn fans were rooting against us, too. But we just made too many big errors at important times in the match. And Kentucky played crazy good.

That’s ok, next year it’ll be tOSU fans rooting against us bc it’s in Columbus

Fuck, now aggy has another championship.

We were good. UK was better. Unfortunately we lost to a fantastic team. Nothing to be ashamed.

Felt like whatever they hit went through, around, or over our block and we were finding theirs.

Their offense is fast.  Our block got up, but I wouldn't be surprised if the speed had it off .

Of the 4 best players on the court tonight we only had 1 of them.

This. Whatcha gonna do? Great season though.

Just flat outplayed today. Regroup and get better for next season.

Not making excuses for Coach JE and the girls but every one of our athletics programs save for men's swimming and diving would kill to have the kind of "disappointments" this program faces.

UK's setter and DS won the game for UK. A lot of balls that should have been kills for us they were able to keep several points alive, and they converted

So was this year just because we were young or is there just something about Elliott where he’s good enough to get to the FF/NC but for some reason just can’t close?

a lot of unforced errors in the 4th set. Not pinning those on the coach. But sets 2 and 3 definitely have some questions. And Stumler having a career night doesn’t reflect well.

And our DS and Libero chose the wrong game to go full turtle.

I’ll take a Columbus crowd vs Omaha any day. I was there in Omaha in 2015 - now THAT was intimidating.

The same issues every year - serve receive and ball control/back row play. Without fail.  But:

2009 we ran into the PSU dynasty

2016 was the start of the Stanford run

2015/2021 just sucked.

2012 was great but we got lucky the best setter in volleyball got hurt in the FF against Oregon and they lost

Elliiott has a defensive/back row blind spot.  We got better this year with the addition of volunteer coach Morrison and a complete lagniappe in Morgan O'Brien.

We don't have elite littles.  They played much better than usual for Texas this year, but not good enough.

We lost the same way we've lost the last eight years:  poor back row play.

ETA:  Iosia is probably one of the best littles we've recruited, but she's young.  O"Brien was a definite step up, but ultimately not like Curry or the Wisky Libero.

Bright spot: Lilley already said she’s not coming back for a COVID year.

From my amateur eyes Lilley got the ball where she wanted it a ton tonight and when that happened they won 95% of those points. Our receive game was all over the map.

curry also probably won them 5-6 extra points compared to O’Brien tonight as well.

Doesn't seem that will change about Elliott. Just have to live with it. It would be hard to justify replacing him as the coach.

We were up 2 sets to 0 against PSU too. ugh. Certainly glad we got our lone title this century in 2012 but given the number of times we've been to the final 4, we should have 3 or 4 titles by now just by law of averages. Could be on Elliot, could be very bad luck, combo of both. But defense wins championships in volleyball and thats certainly why UK won tonight. We were the bigger team, but they kept balls alive that would normally be kills

Logan and Butler all-tournament.

Think Fields should have been too

Lilley MOP but damn Stumler had a case for it

I don’t think we had major weaknesses this year. We had a very good team. UK was just the better team this year.

I mean we were a few points from tying that team 2-2.  We were damn good.  The margin in that game was thinner than the popular narrative will make it sound.

I think it’s changing. Can you imagine 6 months or a full year with Morrison?

Why would Morrison stick around as a volunteer coach?

Yeah, he didn't really change anything for years, signaling that he thought coaching and recruiting was fine.  Fine like this:

And he thought he would bring in the next Sarah Palmer.  Which never happened.

Now, hopefully, he's seen some of the light.
