You bet, it's a hellacious storm.  The problem is, Trump is this:

It doesn't.

Gallup's weekly approval rating (I've been following that because it matches up with similar polling as to previous presidents) has him at 42% the week of 8/19.  Anyone want to bet on what it is gonna be the week of 8/26?  It COULD drop to 39%....but you also know it could go up to 44%.

I don't care what guys like me think -- we knew Trump was a shit-covered clown show in a goat rodeo before he was even elected.  I care what the public thinks.  Particularly his base, because as the base goes, so goes GOP leadership.  And the base is all-in on Cult 45.  They aren't going to budge.

I am very refreshed to see the reform concepts coming from Elizabeth Warren. Easily the best thing I have read about our federal government in what feels like forever. I agree that nothing will change. The base doesn't care is one way to look at it. Another is the base isn't logical. Another is that the base is not getting good news. Its all the same. Its a amazingly devolved organization that is wasting billions of dollars to elect devils. We are a few cycles too close to goose stepping and a constitutional crisis. Only thing that matters is reform. Desperately need it so we can start leave this logic vacuum behind us and start to communicate again.

Yep.   I admit, I thought she probably committing a crime with the email server.  But nothing prevents the DOJ from bringing charges now.  Or for any other crime she supposedly commited, with the Foundation or something else.  That they haven't, under the most anti-Hillary leadership possible, speaks volumes.

Would be hard to bring charges now based on Horowitz finding no issue with the email investigation (outside of Comey's idiotic decision to make a public statement about it before the election).

If new evidence comes out showing she committed a crime, she should be indicted, but doubtful there are any rocks unturned at this point.

The ones that disappeared, for the most part, were the gutless lying GJ voters.

LMAO at the President launching a petition.  What's next?

Image result for do you like me yes no

I liked that part today where Trump admits to doing something illegal. Good times. I'm glad the Republicans in the Senate finally have their out so they can pretend to be anti-Trump all along.

Lol jk.

agree with one of the commentators--this is exactly why his lawyers won't allow him to speak with Mueller.

At least he’s admitting to felonies today and not committing them like he has in previous days.

Oh, I'm sure he'll be along with that shortly.

he's still lying.  He cannot stop.  He's saying he was tweeting that he paid for it from his own finances.  The f'k he was--he flat denied they happened.  It should be real easy to find out if this is true or not.

They should replace the national anthem with a minstrel show.

In all fairness we can't prove he is not committing them today.

This is why it's vital that the Dems run a candidate in 2020 who has relatively broad appeal, and not someone like Bernie or another progressive.  Someone reluctantly pro-choice, who only advocates minor changes to our gun laws (longer waiting periods, stricter gun show sales regulations, MAYBE a limit on semi-auto capacity), who is in favor of somewhat tougher border control (but for God's sake not a stupid wall), and who will push for a rewind on some of the healthcare and tax changes without going full tilt.

Of course, the Dems will fuck this up.

So the Dems can win if they run a moderate Republican. Good to know.

Dems will fuck it up if they go with a milquetoast moderate.  It’s like the Republicans saying we need to play it safe with Jeb or Rubio.  You underestimate the latent rage on the left and Trump isn’t at halftime of his first term.

If there was ever a time to swing for the fences, it’s against Trump in 2020.  Regardless of the Dem candidate, If our country can’t come together and reject Trump in 2020, we don’t deserve to govern ourselves.

The Dem candidate needs to energize more participation in democracy, not less.  A Kasich dem nominee would be a huge wasted opportunity IMO.

Just get a candidate with some experience, good ideas, and energy that isn’t a complete fraud.

I have no doubt the Democrats will fuck it up (see 2016), but it’s odd to me that you and others think that ideological orientation is so important and that centrism or practicality is inherently milquetoaste or moderate. Ideology is bullshit. That’s one of the central lessons of 2016,

There is no such thing as left-right ideology anymore in America and Trump proved it.

Good ideas to help people solve their own problems. That’s what we need.

The republicans will call any democrat a socialist anyway, truth went out the window with them long before Trump.

the worst thing the Democrats could do is trot out a far left socialist democrat. the best thing they could do is trot out someone who has great ideas and is beyond the left/right bullshit. someone like Beto.

Additionally, you are confusing ideology with identity politics in this conversation.

The people calling for an electable “centrist/moderate” are really saying “white guy” so we don’t alienate people turned of by a colored or woman.

It’s horseshit.

What's striking to me is that the Trump/Sessions DOJ still hasn't been able to dig up a single crime on Hillary, despite it being among the greatest desires of both Trump, Sessions, and their hatchet men.   If they can't find a crime, it isn't there.

Not that I think HRC is a criminal, but she’s far more valuable to Trump as a liberal boogeyman running loose than she would be if she were in the pokey paying for her “crimes.”

Hillary would do the world a favor if she knocked over a fruit stand and turned herself in to authorities.

It's just sementics.

If Trump paid for the hush money out of his own pocket, that isn’t illegal, right? An individual can donate as much as they want to their own campaign.   The not reporting it is the illegal part? What sort of penalty is there for not reporting it?
Or am I missing a bunch of stuff?

The only wrinkle I would add is that the $ actually came from Trump Org, which is a corporation, not his “personal” funds.

* Apologies of already addresses. I’m way behind on this thread.
