  • A few of my favorite shots from my time spent at Kennedy. It's impossible to express how amazing it is to experience a launch up close. Most of these are STS-115.

It's what I used to do... Getting two vehicles moving that fast to be together at the same place at essentially 0.1 fps difference in velocity is a true orbital ballet.

Geez 1500 mph!

Now 16,000 mph.  Wow.

Can you imagine hooking with the space station at that speed which is also traveling similar speed? And doing that after a 19 hour trip?

The coverage now is so much better than it used to be.
Only in amount and duration of video coverage. The verbal commentary is total ass.

What do you do for 19 hours now? Check your monitors constantly?

Love it! Go NASA and SpaceX!

Plus, the lack of expertly crafted GIFs is annoying.

Try not to think about waterfalls or washing dishes ...

The amount of balls it takes to approve using the excess margin of the rocket to return to earth vice allowing all margin to go toward mission assurance.  A great program/contracted win. The amount of times I argued allowing SX to return boosters on Gov missions has aged me 50 years.

Amazing.

I didn't realize how badly I needed some good news

Did it not look like a gimp suit the people that helped them in the pod were wearing?  They also just called them by their number on the suit lol.

Fuck, spaced out on this so to speak. Need to find a good vid.

Well that was fucking awesome. now while those two heroes are hurtling through space, I'm going to heb. Godspeed yall.

That’s all I care about. I don’t listen to any of their crap commentary. I just want to see what’s happening

I still am.  Sipping on some bourbon watching humankind achieve great things during incredibly tough times.  America! Fuck Yeah!!

Did Katherine Johnson sign off on your work, or did she have to fix it....

Would you go to Mars if you knew you couldn’t come back?

You would be in the Shart Hall of Fame.

I miss the NASA channel though. I watched for hours seeing my neighbors fix the Hubble.

I watched the whole thing on NASA channel.  Was pretty damn cool

The aesthetics of everything now compared to the old space shuttle days is like watching a modern scifi movie versus the original Star Trek.

Can I have the yacht then...

The cockpit and space suits look very minimalist.

it's kinda weird seeing a capsule that isn't jammed full of toggle switches

That question has already been asked. The history channel has a few videos.

And America took back to the heavens, despite the costs and the risk, for the very simple reason...it's what was next.

Godspeed to the Crew.  Maybe the new images of our pale blue dot, suspended in a sunbeam, will bring some inspiration and mutual sense of purpose.

Fucking shit I missed this. Was looking forward to it all week, then got caught up grilling outside. Any good replays?

What is this dot you speak of?

This.  Wife asked which channel and I told her it didn't make a fuck.  I just wanted to watch the video feeds.

Kinda like football we used to watch...

Really wanted to see that thing land on the drone barge, the feed went dead and when they got it back, presto! There it is.

CNN sure did a shit job.  Missed the take-off and cut when the first stage was 10 seconds to land on the barge.
