March 28, 20214 yr It's saying something when you can sweep a top 10 team even when your 4th best player is unavailable
March 29, 20214 yr Joffe was smart in scheduling Baylor multiple times this season. Three top 10 wins against the same team is huge in a limited traveling season for the computer rankings. Baylor also did some smart scheduling. Played quite a few 20-30 teams. Have not played any top 15 teams this year and will likely win out the rest of the regular season to maintain a top 10 ranking Edited March 29, 20214 yr by Aleemay
March 31, 20214 yr We also used a walk-on and 2 other players who haven't played this season in our sweep today. Hopefully Charlotte gets healthy before the post season
April 1, 20214 yr Tomorrow’s match against Houston shouldn’t take more than 2 hours. I’ll record the LHN broadcast just because it’s the last televised match of the year. Should be another 7-0 win for Texas unless Cusano plays singles
April 2, 20214 yr 4-0 sweep, lost one set total in a match that didn’t finish. http://sidearmstats.com/texas/wtennis/xlive.htm
April 10, 20214 yr Stearns didn't play today, so Anna played line #1 against KU. She lost, but we beat KU 6-1!
April 11, 20214 yr Another 7-0 sweep in the books. This one against KState. Still no Peyton Stearns, but hopefully she'll be back for Friday's match @Texas Tech

Hopefully it's minor- from the KU video she seems to be walking fine
April 11, 20214 yr Baylor escapes Lawrence with a 4-3 win. Texas needs Baylor to win out for the computer rankings. OK State might have been able to save their season with a win against Iowa State today.
April 12, 20214 yr WVU said "no mas" to the rest of their season. https://wvusports.com/news/2021/4/7/womens-tennis-suspends-play.aspx If you look at WVU's updated roster, they only have 5 players. You need 6 to field a team Edited April 12, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007
April 16, 20214 yr Stearns is not in the lineup against Tech. I think we’ll be fine, I just hope she’ll be ready to go by post season
April 16, 20214 yr Texas wins 4 singles Guess they didn't play out the remaining singles matches as the Tech men are also playing right afterwards
April 16, 20214 yr Texas wins 4-1! Looks like they aren’t playing out the remaining two matches. @TCU to finish out the regular season on Sunday
April 19, 20214 yr Something interesting they're doing this year is that they announced 20 potential sites today for the NCAAs. Four will get cut. List is here: https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/committees/d1/compoversig/Apr2021D1AdCom_Apr14Report.pdf What I find interesting is that this list must have been done with previous week's rankings as teams like LSU and Tennessee are on this list even though A&M is top 16 (was on the outside couple of weeks ago) and has wins over both LSU and Tennessee. This probably means A&M will get sent to Baylor as the second seed. UT and Baylor will probably split Rice and SMU (as long as they're rankings hold up).

It’s like saying if you’re ranked #21 or worse at this point in the season, you have no chance to host even if you pull off some big upsets in your conference tourney. I don’t get it
April 22, 20214 yr Kansas def. KSU 4-3 today so they’ll be our opponent. Weather is supposed to be nasty tomorrow so matches tomorrow will probably be indoors. We’ll be fine either way against KU Edited April 22, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007

April 24, 20214 yr Stearns may need to be dropped down a line or two. She has not been the same player since coming back from her ankle injury.
April 24, 20214 yr Texas beats OU 4-2. Putting Rapolu at line 6 paid off, as she won the clinching point. Anna didn't finish but was down a set so that could have been the difference maker. We'll play tomorrow in the Big 12 finals against Baylor. Our 4th meeting this season Edited April 24, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007
April 24, 20214 yr Won lines 3-6. Playing against Baylor tomorrow. Baylor's lineup is pretty interesting. Their number one player Krywoj has only played doubles this tournament. Kraus who played in the three matches against UT has also not played recently.

They have basically three super seniors and haven't lost a dual match since 2019. Saw a tweet that summed up what they've done this past few years The good news is that Texas lost a nail bitter to them earlier this year indoors. UNC also has not made an NCAA final yet with this illustrious class. I'd rate Texas as having a 20-30% chance of beating UNC. Things that have to happen are Peyton needs to get hot during NCAAs and Joffe has to decide between Labrana and Rapolu at 6.
April 25, 20214 yr 20-30% chance at toppling UNC sounds about right. Fortunately we wouldn't face them until the finals. Pepperdine and Georgia will be a coin flip in the semi finals, because they are right there with us talent wise. I would give us a 50-50 chance at making the finals, and then a 25% chance of winning it, assuming our opponent is UNC. If we get Pepperdine or Georgia in the finals, thats a coinflip finals. Like Aleemay said, we need Peyton to get back to her early season form to have a shot.
April 27, 20214 yr maybe Joffe needs to call Rick and Shaka and ask them some tips for beating UNC.......but then again it is a tournament game so those tips might not help...
May 2, 20214 yr Draw will be revealed tomorrow. Texas will be the second seed. Predict that Arkansas will be the second seed of the regional. Guess is based on Arkansas being around the right rank (top 30) and that the NCAA will have to split the SEC conference (11 or 12 bids) between the regionals evenly. Wonder if the NCAA will go ahead and send A&M over to Baylor. Would be unfair since that wound a nationally top 10 match up in the second round. Either way whoever gets A&M in their regional is going to be pretty unhappy. Rice and A&M Corpus Christi likely to be sent between Baylor and Texas. SMU likely to be one of the first teams out.

Denver, Miss St, ASU. Aggy got a seed (10)
May 3, 20214 yr Pepperdine and UCLA being on the other side of the bracket is good news. Georgia is by far the biggest threat to us not making the finals. NCST and FSU are tough teams but we should beat them.
May 3, 20214 yr Fair draw for Texas. Vandy might be able to pull off the upset against Ohio State The R32 match ups of Baylor vs. Duke and Pepperdine vs. Stanford will be interesting Iowa got hosed unfortunately
May 3, 20214 yr UVA is interesting because their line 1 player is almost a guaranteed win. If I were an opposing coach, I would be VERY tempted to stack my lineup against them
May 4, 20214 yr I'm sure this is a dumb question even in non-Covid years. My 6YO girl is finally getting into tennis this year. Are they doing tickets/attendance for these two rounds or no?
May 4, 20214 yr 4 minutes ago, Lobo said: I'm sure this is a dumb question even in non-Covid years. My 6YO girl is finally getting into tennis this year. Are they doing tickets/attendance for these two rounds or no? In normal years, although UT regular season matches are free to attend, they do charge for admission to NCAA tournament matches. Generally its only $20 or so for the weekend. I haven't been to a tournament match since matches were at pennick so I'm not sure how its done now.
May 4, 20214 yr Thanks. The times I've driven by, it looks like nobody has even been allowed in for matches (regular season) save for maybe family and staff. Would love to take the girls on Saturday for ASU or MSU. I'm sure details, or lack thereof, will be posted soon at texassports.com
May 4, 20214 yr Tickets A reduced number of tickets per match will be available to the public. These tickets will be $5 per match, available as walk-up purchases only, and must be paid for using a debit/credit card. The Tennis Center will be cleared of fans for sanitizing in between each match, so fans wishing to attend multiple matches must purchase a ticket for each individual match.
May 4, 20214 yr Big 12 teams in the tournament: #2 Texas, #8 Baylor, Texas Tech, OU, OKST, Iowa State Texas teams in the tournament: #2 Texas, #8 Baylor, #10 aggy, Texas Tech, Rice, TAMU-CC
May 4, 20214 yr Peyton and Anna get single bids Lulu and Kylie get doubles bids I honestly wonder how many selections will actually want to stay and play the individual tournament
