what is happening!?!?

Well, you certainly aren’t respecting his decision.

...I'd imagine it has to do with something or someone

I'm not going to respect your decision if you don't at least give us a little bit more info, Anthony.

So found out he wasn't going to be the starter this year?

Shit. He did seem most likely to be the odd man out based on most write ups I’ve seen but without spring practice or summer practices opening up yet it’s not like there is a depth chart or anything.

Good luck to him, we’ll be ok in the secondary with a little injury luck. Adimora has made more plays with fewer opportunities.

Doubtful with, like, zero practice so far this year

Yeah, maybe running as backup nickel wasn't appealing to him. We'll see I guess.

He has not transitioned like a high 5 star should. I remember him getting absolutely scorched against Kansas. Still a very vital part of this team. Great kid and had leadership skills.

Luckily this secondary is deep if they can all stay healthy.

I was about to lose my shit, but then I saw he said respect his decision, so rats

He didn't find anything out about whether he'd be starting or not, they haven't even started camp. Maybe they were trying to get him to change positions and he wasn't having it.

Who had him as a high five star?

Yeah he was a high five star for a lot of his junior year, but gradually sank over senior year as other guys who were less maxed-out physically got better.

Grades came out?

Not sure if they went pass/fail or satisfactory/ unsatisfactory, but if he blew off classes during COVID, less than a C means he can’t get a waiver for the positive outcome grade point. If he was borderline...

Not saying that’s the case, but it’s about that time that official grades and appeals are done

247 even moved him below Jamison

As long as no other players go outside and punch their cars as a result of this news we'll be OK.

“Due to unfortunate situations...”

Thats tells the whole story right there.

I’ve had a few of these in my life and I usually just quit so I don’t have to do anything challenging or maintain some sort of mental strength.

Green is the #1 corner on the team and the coaches can’t keep Jaimison on the bench, he makes too many damn good plays.  Watson seems to be progressing very well at CB and from the bowl game practices and the game against Utah, Adimora seems to be the perfect nickel for this defense.

He probably doesn’t want to fight to be the #2 CB against Jaimison and Watson and he probably doesn’t want o fight for snaps or back up Adimora at nickel.  Hopefully he changes his mind.  Green will be NFL bound after this year and he has a chance to start next year.

He has to do what he feels is best for him but damn it son.. Iron sharpens Iron.. stick with it

Yeah, Cook was the most polished of the three but always had the lowest upside (IMO). Seems likely to be a backup this year so a transfer is in order. All good.

He did solid when he has gotten some run however he has also suffered some untimely injuries that slowed his development/gametime.

The fact that Cook isn't in the portal makes Nahlin think it could be something else.

Also Brayden Liebrock liked the tweet, FWIW. Only Longhorn to do so.

Hm, well we'll see in due time.

How in the world would a depth chart be set in stone right now?

Sigh. What a shitshow

This doesn’t seem roster related (especially given that there hasn’t been any practice yet). Probably grade or team rule violation related.
Anyone that thinks it doesn’t hurt the defense because he (probably) wasn’t going to start doesn’t understand football. Good teams have this thing called “depth” that helps them out as the season drags along. The more of it the better.

Tweet deleted. Maybe he stays after all. Who knows these days.

Well after so many guys on the team showed the benefits of letting young men have a voice and platform, you get a reminder that college dudes can be emotional and kinda dumb sometimes.

Quit? You know, once I was thinking about quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer, all at the same time. But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and I won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I'm sure he has a good reason to quit.
