Is statutory rape so prevalent in the House that it needs to be specifically mentioned in the thou shall no do rules?  I mean, I can understand the prostitution prohibition to prevent Boebert from relapsing, but statutory rape?

Look up Dennis Hastert. Or don't, if you'd like to enjoy your day.

Yes. The FBI already investigated and Biden DOJ didn’t bring any charges.

Question, yes or no: Are there people (more than one person) in this country who 1) committed a crime, but 2) were not charged because law enforcement did not feel like the evidence they gathered was sufficient to support a successful prosecution?

Just a yes or no -- are there people who "did it," but charges weren't brought because the authorities simply couldn't gather sufficient proof?

This has been investigated by the top law enforcement agency in the country and by the House. Both with unlimited budgets and with plenty of motivation to see this individual go down.  If he “did it” he would be in jail. Especially with all of the evidence they claim (leak) to the media.

Cool.  So, your answer is "no."

Just want to hold you to that standard going forward.

But if it comes from an email chain and describes all the people the Clintons killed or had killed, it's enough cover to vote for Donald Trump.

What is Florida's statutory rape law?

Under Florida law, a person who is 24 years old or older who has sex with a person 16 or 17 years of age has committed a second-degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

"A person charged with this offense may not claim ignorance or misrepresentation of the minor’s age as a defense," the report pointed out. State law also prohibits consideration of the minor's previous sexual conduct as relevant.

The Hose Ethics report added that "it is also a criminal offense under Florida state law to solicit, induce, entice, or procure another to commit prostitution, or to 'purchase the services of any person engaged in prostitution,' or to 'aid, abet, or participate' in such actions.

794.05 Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.

(1) A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(2) As used in this section, the term:

(b) “Sexual activity” means oral, anal, or female genital penetration by, or union with, the sexual organ of another or the anal or female genital penetration of another by any other object; however, sexual activity does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose.
(3) The provisions of this section do not apply to a person 16 or 17 years of age who has had the disabilities of nonage removed under chapter 743.
(4) The victim’s prior sexual conduct is not a relevant issue in a prosecution under this section.
(5) If an offense under this section directly results in the victim giving birth to a child, paternity of that child shall be established as described in chapter 742. If it is determined that the offender is the father of the child, the offender must pay child support pursuant to the child support guidelines described in chapter 61.

794.021 Ignorance or belief as to victim’s age no defense. When, in this chapter, the criminality of conduct depends upon the victim’s being below a certain specified age, ignorance of the age is no defense. Neither shall misrepresentation of age by such person nor a bona fide belief that such person is over the specified age be a defense.

This is, of course, a Florida state law so federal authorities can't enforce it.  Strange that Pam Bondi and her successor didn't use their considerable influence to ensure that Florida rape and prostitution laws are enforced, given their heartfelt concerns about the grooming of our youth ...

Should have moved to Texas, obviously.  Or about a dozen other states where the age of consent is 17 (or even 16?)

Yes but the ones that do get indicted, I still have to vote for them because Joe Biden made me pay an extra nickel an egg.

I wonder his thoughts about when people are tried by jury and convicted of felonies.

It’s pretty amazing sometimes getting a glimpse into the mind of your average maga moron.
There is truly no line they won’t cross. I bet Balcones is a big Roy Moore fan too.

People are (rightly so) focusing on the statutory rape, but I can't help but wonder whether the honorable Mr Gaetz purchased a gun during that drug fueled time line.

I’m a big fan of Charlie Wilson. I doubt Gaetz will get a movie made for doing the same things Charlie did though.

Umm, anyone who thinks that only people who are formally charged with criminal conduct engage in criminal conduct is a contrarian or an imbecile.

Let's forget the fact that 17 is stat rape in Florida, let's pretend its legal. A dude in his 30s providing X, cociane, alcohol and money to a  17yo for sex is an irredeammable fucking weirdo.

Hard to understand why you would defend him.

Do you really believe his Venmo history is fake, texts messages are fake and  two young girls  were willing to commit perjury and ruin their reputations by falsely claiming they engaged in prostitution in high school?

Is there a bridge too far?

Notice that Gaetz hasn't threatened to sue. Florida has some very lenient defamation laws.

Lots of cringe with this one.  Feeding drugs to 17 year olds is enough to land you in jail.  Throw in blind 17 yo’s and he should fry.

Life must suck if you are stanning for Matt Fucking Gaetz on the internet.

Madison Cawthorn talked about this a few years ago - the sex and drug parties.  MAGA called him out as a sore loser.

Quote

It’s not clear to me whether Cawthorn is suggesting that members of Congress have invited him to orgies or just other people in Washington – although after listening to his comments several times, it seems to be the former.

Ditto his allegations of seeing people in Washington doing cocaine.

Either way, Cawthorn is making some very serious allegations here. On a podcast. With zero proof or follow up. You can’t just say stuff like this without being asked follow-up questions – like who, exactly, is he talking about and when did all of this happen?

https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/28/politics/madison-cawthorn-orgy-invite-cocaine-claim/index.html

Hey, turns out he was right and was talking about Gaetz.  those must have been some kinky ass people if they wanted a dude in a wheelchair involved.

The House ethics committee is the top law enforcement agency in the country?   Do you really believe the FBI investigated a state offense?

There is no amount of evidence that would convince you he did it.  Gaetz could admit it under oath, show a video of himself paying a 17yo for sex and and it wouldn't be enough.  He is on your team and every allegation, no matter how substantial the proof, is fake news.

You're as bad as friends/relatives of criminals who are shot committing armed robberies and murder who get on the news and say "he was a good boy, he didn't do it" after watching a video that showing him actually doing it.

Roy Moore is pre-MAGA. It's like when you look in the dinosaur book and before T-Rex they show a few big amphibians and giant roaches. That's where Roy goes.

Remember, he managed to screw the pooch in one of the most MAGA states after Trump won.

I wonder what he is doing now? Grifting or still losing, one or the other.

Not to cross the streams to much but read about all the female supporters in court for Luigi Mangiones arraignment… Balcones gonna do the same for Gaetz if/when he sees the inside if a court room?
