I enjoyed the first two seasons, but am finding the third a little slow.   I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had not read the books.  It’s like they hired someone who read the books ten years ago to write a one paragraph synopsis and list every character name they could remember and then handed that to writer who had no idea who Asimov was to write the script.

Well just a reminder that this is an interpretation of the series.  It is loosely based on the books - it is not a straight adaptation.  Goyer will be the first to admit that the books gave him an outline, but not a story.

This is not GOT or the new Harry Potter series.  The source material is a rough sketch, but wasn't highly adaptable for him on a 1:1 basis.

Interesting, I am having the exact opposite experience. I found the Gaal/Salvor story repetitive and slow without what I felt was real and deep exploration of their relationship/feelings. Instead a thin skinned drama, "cause she gonna die" is what we got. That's what I thought should have been the primary relationship focus but the tired Gaal/Hari drama repeat crossed with a very predictable cult cult cult plot made season 2 very slow for me.

Season 3 is moving much quicker with much more interesting plots and bigger changes. Love the pace of this season and the various relationships are so much more enjoyable. Well, the autistic musical clown is annoying but..

I like the books but am ambivalent about watching this.  I've read that they created ways for characters to carry over season to season which seems antithetical to the books.  I don't know why you wouldn't make it an anthology.

Have they gotten to the mule yet?

Yes. This season, in fact, was his first substantial appearance as a character

If I watched the first season of this and felt underwhelmed enough to not start season 2, is it actually worth jumping back in? It felt like a show that was very close to being good but lacking some critical ingredient.

My TV queue is thin right now so time to revisit old options.

Nope. Knew a bit of the broad story line but never read them. Why?

The books can sometime be a beating.

Season 1 was rough.

Personally, an hour long cliff notes episide of season 2 and jumping into Season 3 would have made me happier.

No. I really enjoy this show but if you didn’t like season 1, I can’t see how you would like the rest

It will be interesting to see if he plays the same role that he does in the books

It definitely feels like they are setting up the character for an extremely pivotal roll. Don't know the books but it seems clear to me he's likely to be a hero of sorts or at least importantly aligned with one.

I have been thinking about reading the books just because the show can be hard to follow.  Now I'm not sure how much good it will do.

Put me in the season 3 is really good camp (I have not read the books).

and season 3 finale day!

Certain dramatic events have transpired.

First finale that didn't show a time jump at the end?

Season 4 needs to take off right where season 3 ended, because there is a lot that happened and a lot of new threads to unravel.

Damn.  Can't wait to watch.  I thought this was the series finale?  Glad it apparently isn't.

Season 4 was announced yesterday morning

Goyer initially outlined an 8-season plan, but he is leaving the day-to-day after this season, mostly due to the stress of being away from his family across the Atlantic to do this - they film all throughout Europe. So whether Apple and the new writer's room sticks to the plan or not, this is at least going 4
