April 16, 20187 yr Author Or Lockhart, Bastrop, anywhere nearby. Thinking of that old school in Smithville, would be nice if there was somewhere closer.
April 16, 20187 yr Let me think on this a bit. Honestly, good abandoned locations seem to be few in central Texas. Is this for a band photo shoot? If you are willing to come to Houston I think I have a spot that works, and may offer some other interesting shots.
April 16, 20187 yr Author Nah, engagement photos, and the girl has a photographer she likes (and who probably has a pretty good idea of what good locations would be, but I'm trying to think on it as well). Thinking just a bit, I do feel like there's not a lot of this in Austin, though there's bound to be a few locations I'm not thinking of, and there has to be some places in the surrounding areas.

Also, that school has been renovated (I believe). This is close to Smithville, not sure if it fits the bill. And the second pic is of the place I am referring to in Houston. Southern Houston Suburbs San Antonio (several buildings, including chapel)
April 16, 20187 yr Off-topic slightly, but I wonder why Austin has no ruins while Houston is replete with them. One theory is Austin's kind of hysterical attachment to historical preservation, while Houston is one of the ultimate cities of disposable neighborhoods and structures.

Ah ok...maybe some of my spots are a little too sinister for wedding shots haha. Austin: San Marcos:

Perhaps, but I think it has to do with the size of the cities and also the type of industry and growth in the last century.
April 16, 20187 yr Author haha yeah on a couple, badass shots though. I should start a new band. Swamp metal. Where are those last two?
April 16, 20187 yr Old lime kilns at McNeal. The other is the reproduction of the mission at Aquarena.

April 16, 20187 yr Celery, you can look through my abandoned album and if you have questions about a spot, send me a DM. https://www.flickr.com/photos/11700551@N02/albums/72157626447041989
April 16, 20187 yr For outdoorsy or more of a "natural" / country feel, I know of some spots out here in Drip... some indoors, others outdoors. One of the buildings was used in a Nissan commercial (the front porch, anyhow).
