Dude's always been a fat fuck.  I'm surprised that he made it 83 years.

He was a great musician. He was also a cool dude before he got old people's disease from Fox News.  Million Mile Reflections is a great song.

This.  Although, he's not the first guy to run a little wild in their youth, then grow up and say, "Don't do that!"

Damn.  Guess he hung it up for good today. Goodnight planet earth.  God Bless.

One of my older brothers had the 45 of this song, and I played it a ton as a kid.  Still makes me smile.

Some years ago I got the original pressing of this on a Buddha label from Bill. He might have made me shell out a 20. Worth every penny.

Rest well you old fart.

I was definitely a fan of young Charlie, grouchy old fart Charlie not so much. He was a helluva musician.

I always loved the combo of him and his guitarist, Tommy Crane.  Charlie's stretch between 74 and 79....he put out 6 fantastic records, starting with Fire On The Mountain and ending with Million Mile Reflection was a great run.    Like on the song Passing Lane from 1979, they were more in line, guitar wise, with Molly Hatchet with an  Hammond B3.

Trudy is such a fun song.

LOVED the music part of this song.

I didn't know he played with Earl Scruggs until I saw this movie. This cut is from right before they were going to play at a Vietnam war protest.

Can’t You See?

One of my all time favs and still relevant today.

Classic Southern Rock with some Blues and Progressive Country ( a flute? Wtf does that?) thrown in for good measure.

Listened to it the night before I got the news.

Charlie covered it, but The Marshall Tucker Band wrote it (Toy Caldwell), and in my opinion, did a far better version.  The flute you're referring to is on the MTB version.  Charlie's version is pretty stiff.

Total screw up on my part. Always got those two confused. I’ll have to go back and listen to some Charlie. RIP

Seriously, if you were to look from a distance at a stage with CDB and one with MT, they wouldn't look very different. Sound is very similar as well.

I was surprised to read today that Charlie toured as part of Leonard Cohen's band, which led to hanging with and playing with, George, Ringo, and Bob Dylan.
