Gonna have to source some wax paper cups and have a home-dipped-and-fried corn dog party sometime in October.

There's a Fletcher's food truck that goes around Dallas. Might need to schedule that to come around on October 10th.

Why is this not the lead story of the DMN everyday? I had no idea.

Oak Cliff Brewing at Tyler Station has been hosting the actual Fletcher's Original Corny Dog truck on rotation.  Next time is July 15,

They need it to go through neighborhoods like the ice cream trucks used to do.  Adults will be running after it

Damn this would be awesome

I've eaten corn dogs one day a year for the last 35 years (and when we played SMU that one time). Guess I'll be hitting up Sonic this week.

Well then you have to get a grilled cheese, chili cheese tots and a Route 44 ocean water.

Lifelong Texan, never been to the state fair. Is it worth going whenever it resumes? How does it compare to something like Fiesta or the Charro Days festival in Brownsville?

Meh, if you aren't there for a football game then it's just a larger version of a county fair.

Just move it to the day after the election. We all know that's when this bullshit will magically disappear.

The pretty hot niece of the Fletcher family opened a brick and mortar in Dallas. It's not bad.

I called yesterday to check on hours before driving out. They have been closed since March and aren’t reopening while Texas cases are spiking. Jace kept me on the phone for about 15 minutes shooting the shit. Her phone has been blowing up since the announcement. Nice lady

Pop ups circulating the next few weeks. Not standing in line for an hour for a corny dog with no football to look forward to.

Oh, I know the rules. For your viewing pleasure, Jace Fletcher Christensen:

And this really fucks with an old saying I used with my kids in their younger years.

They would whine about something not being "fair."

My response: "This is Texas. And the only fair is the State Fair. And, the State Fair takes place in October and it ain't October."

Now.. .well crap. Gotta wait until 2021. Thanks a lot Obama.

Corona Dogs.

Went to the state fair for the first time a few years ago and first thing was got a beer then 2nd was a corny dog. Didn't like it. Took 2 bites then tossed it and got a giant baked potato topped with cajun shrimp that was damn good

Apparently every pop up they have had has crazy long lines. From some photos it looked like several hour long lines...in 100 degree temps. F that.

From Eater Dallas:

The State Fair of Texas may be cancelled for 2020, but fair enthusiasts will still be able to get their hands on their favorite fried foods from the annual event via drive-thru this fall.

Kicking off on September 19, the Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru will allow fairgoers to score Fletcher’s Corny Dogs, fried Oreos, kettle corn, and more State Fair favorite without ever getting out of their cars. Multiple packages are available, starting at $65, and include everything from a professional photo with State Fair icon Big Tex to sodas, cotton candy, and even a prize from the midway games.

Smokey John’s turkey legs, Sweet Connie’s corn on the cob, and more snacks will be available as add-ons to the food packages.

Because the COVID-19 pandemic is still a thing, fairgoers won’t be able to get out of their cars during the drive-thru experience unless they need to go to the bathroom or have paid to pose for a photo with Big Tex. When folks are out of their cars, six feet of social distancing is required between parties. Visitors are also required to wear face masks while picking up food from vendors, even if they’re sitting in their cars.

The Big Tex Fair Food Experience will kick off on September 19, with plans to operate Friday through Sunday throughout October 12, which is when the State Fair of Texas would normally conclude. Tickets for the event go on sale on September 2 at 10 a.m., and don’t be shocked if they sell out quickly.
