Enjoying Costa Rica —from Corcovado today.

Got back in late Monday night and took the puddle jumper from San Jose to Quepos Tuesday morning. Well, that flight got cancelled so they put us on a flight to Puerto Jimenez and from there to Quepos.

  • This is #4 of the five yellow-fin tunas I hauled in. I was the only “customer” on the boat so after number five.... I thought my arms might fall off. Ran into a pod of 500* dolphins/porpoises and tuna

Also do's and don'ts, how much cash to bring for tips, etc.  (for 4 days)

If you are up for a drive Playa Conchal is my favorite beach in that area. I think it’s a little less than an hour away though. As the others said just use an ATM and get colones for whatever cash you need.

As far as bringing a few bottles of bourbon to CR, is that ok?

Got to MA Wed.  Staying at Tulemar for the first time.  I now understand why people love this place so much.  Unfortunately my special lady friend had a family emergency so I  dropped her att the muni this morning and shes headed back to Dallas. I've got one more night here in MA and then over to Aranal before going home on Monday

Agua Azul is closed so we had some apps at El Avion and then dinner at Le Papillioni.  I am probably going to drive over to Fuego for something to do now that Im solo.  Went fishing yesterday and got skunked.  Water is really bad from the rain.  Win some lose some.

I think it’s 3 liters per person.

the duty free at SJO has a really good selection of tequila/rum/vodka so I am sure they have good bourbons too. It’s cheap and a lot easier than sticking a bunch of bottles in your checked luggage so you might just do that. We load up there every time we go through because it’s about 1/2 the price of buying anywhere else.

Sucks about the fishing. Quepoa is the sister restaurant to Agua Azul and has very similar food so you might try that if it’s open. I also can’t remember if you’ve been to Mangata but it’s our favorite restaurant in MA right now.

BTW i just talked to my captain he said the fishing has been really slow. Just some tuna and not many. It was great when we left 3 weeks ago but has been slowing down ever since we left.

Check message

Oh and FYI they are working on the crocadile bridge.  Closing alt lanes.  Luckily on the way down they were letting southbound traffic through but by the looks of it they had the north bound traffic stopped for a long time.  People were out of their cars just sitting around.  It must have been backed up for 2 miles at least

I'm in Arenal today. That drive from MA up here through the mountains is sketchy af and terrifying at times TBH.

Cheers Bitches.

Hook Em!

How’s the weather? I assume you stuck with Guanacaste. The earthquake 2 days ago shook the central coast pretty good but I’m guessing you didn’t feel much.

Yes, we stuck with Guanacaste.  The weather predictions were really bad/off, but I can see why.  Out of the 5 days we were there, it rained about an hour (once) each day.  We had to cancel our zip line trip because of lightning.

It was a freaking blast.  The people and the food were great.

Luckily our flight was about 5 hours before the earthquake.  😳

Also trade that Corona in for Imperial or Bavaria.

That was at the airport and I was Imperial’d out.
😄

We stayed at the Westin Conchal.

Did you ask for your eggs to be overcooked and dry af, or did they come that way? Thanks, Westin!

Yes, I don't think they understood over-medium.

They were still good and a little runny on the bottom side.

Got moved into my new marina condo last week. It doesn’t suck. The exterior landscaping and pool should be complete this month.

The last photo is from lunch up in Manuel Antonio at Agua Azul. Damn I love this country.

One of my favorite places on the planet. Table on the rail, Ahi tower and a cold cerveza.  Paradise.

I still haven’t found anything on their menu that isn’t excellent. Great seafood and the best burger in CR. It’s amazing that they do all of that from the tiny kitchen.

Indeed. Just so good across the board.

Thanks for the recommendation on it way back.

Saw that condo being fiinished a month ago.  More pics of said condo please for those of us still considering a move

They did a really good job on the build. 40 units, fully furnished including all kitchen items, concierge desk open 6 am - 6pm, big pool, sauna, cold plunge, weight room, massage room, media room for movies. Honestly I haven’t taken many photos but these were the renderings pre-construction and it looks exactly like the pictures.

Damh.  That looks really nice and great view of the marina.  And 5 mins from the paxi etc

They expanded the mini price grocery store here in the marina. There is basically no need to leave the property anymore other than the farmers market just down the street on Friday/Saturday and to go up to Manuel Antonio restaurants when we get tired of the ones in the marina.

I got married in Manuel Antonio and spent 6 days there. I couldn’t drink imperial for a while after that.
