June 26, 20223 yr I fully expect them to lose at least half of their “bought” 5-stars after year 1….but didn’t expect it to happen before Spring ball even started. Gotta love it.

Literally. Or sheep.

June 26, 20223 yr I hope all of the bought players continually renegotiate. I’d like to think aggy bit off more than they can chew with this past class and it eats them alive over the next year or two, constantly scrambling for more money from light and dark sources and having to re-recruit players. can wishes come true?

Supposedly Anthony James was told to look around and now Bowens. I guess it wasn't until July and forward last year when they started throwing the money bags at Nolen, Stewart, ect.

June 26, 20223 yr In all of this, our best players on the roster are getting massive NiL deals like Bijan, Worthy, DMO. If we’re offering recruits NiL, we’re giving it to the entire position group like TE and OL. Aggy instead gave their incoming freshman massive deals. It’s going to be a fun locker room when someone of those kids don’t develop and the current players are wondering where their deals are when a backup is getting paid.

That is real and happening everywhere. Hell, when Worthy held the program hostage at Texas and got paid, other guys not asking for anything up til then were like, “wait, wut?” That’s with some actual organization. The dark money shit ATM just did makes that kind of stuff more prevalent and harder to manage. You have upperclassmen who got very little or nothing and true freshmen that got six figures. Nolen got $750k and Stewart got $500k. The thug from Mississippi that is a DL upperclassman got paid when he signed, more than Bama could come up with, so he won’t be whining but most of the other guys will be. Achane and the star WR got nothing when they signed. I’m guessing Stewart being a cancerous diva isn’t going to please them much.

Maybe not the thread for it, but how have the BMDs in your circle reacted to Arch. So much of recruiting is momentum and results tend to drive more interest and money whether it’s for facility upgrades, etc. With Arch on board, do you anticipate the boosters doing what they can to help bring in a #1 type class? Despite 5-7, there’s a lot to sell to the elite recruits right now. They will play in the SEC in their 2nd year it looks like, facilities all upgraded, coaches that have developed NFL talent at other stops, and now NiL opportunities. Texas had a lot to overcome the last few years. With Arch on board, it feels like things can ignite and this class can take off and hopefully accelerate our trajectory they way Simms/Redding did for us.

There’s been a lot of certitude around Manning for awhile. To the top. But no one is thinking in terms of “we have to get the #1 recruiting class” type of logic. That’s dated and no one gives a shit about outranking Saban or Day or Smart. The thinking is revolving around getting and retaining players that can compete perennially against the top 5 programs across every position and every class. That means preventing transfers, getting great transfers, and building great classes as well. That shit gets expensive and the alumni base has to step up. Lots of people are suddenly more willing after the Manning commitment, which is good. I don’t know, necessarily, how anyone is really doing right now, but sustainability has to be a part of the long term logic. USC and ATM have both splashed money over the last 18 months and now they’re going to have to make it recurring. It could be a challenge. As of yet, USC hasn’t stepped up to meet their promises, so that could get funny. ATM’s pure mercenary approach with one class is something we’ve discussed and could also wind up being really entertaining. I don’t see them with the ability to moneywhip the market this cycle while also keeping the 2022 class happy as well as the rest of the roster and then also moneywhipping the transfer market. Too many other players, the biggest of which may be Texas, have shown up on all fronts.

Too many other players, the biggest of which may be Texas, have shown up on all fronts. It sounds like rates have already gone up across the board since they locked down that 22 class too. Which makes sense bc all of a sudden tons of other schools are entering the all-out bidding wars. TN giving $8 mil to one guy for example and Louisville driving up prices. Because of that, A&M is probably going to have to re-bid for all of those mercenaries at much higher rates. That’s gonna get expensive. I do find it interesting that they were so silent in the transfer market. Maybe out of cash or maybe just banking on the freshmen.
June 26, 20223 yr Tony Mitchell Fong'd to Bama'. This is the 5* CB that aggy has had high confidence in landing for a while.

June 26, 20223 yr @Longhornfrenzy any goods on the Stroh commitment? "Wasn't a take", "Not SEC good", "Trust Jimbo" and the usual im guessing.

June 26, 20223 yr Stroh is a slow footed OT, that is true. He doesn’t have great feet. I still think he can be a terrific guard for Flood.
June 26, 20223 yr What those idiots don't realize is the best OL they've had recently was two years ago and that OL was made up of low 3*'s like Carson Green, Ryan McCollum, Jared Hocker, and Dan Moore. They took Layden Robinson who everyone knew had concrete feet and other guys like Chibuzo, the guy from Washington (state) last year and many more. And as someone pointed out in another thread Sam Pittman really wanted Stroh. As always with the aggy screenshots, buncha' fuckin' idiots with zero football knowledge.
