They really think they're flipping Zachariah Branch? (This is a half-serious, half-incredulous question)

They really think they're flipping Zachariah Branch? (This is a half-serious, half-incredulous question)

This, and they really think they’re only taking three 3-stars? Lol.

This is my 1st time entering this thread & based on reading the last few pages... is it safe to assume that the the rest of CFB has caught up to Aggy when it comes to  "NIL" (both legal & illegal) & that's why they are no longer dominating recruiting like they did last recruiting cycle?

They didn’t start dominating until late in the cycle. No way Jimbo and his donor crew will sit back and let UT sign a better class than them.

They didn't flip shit until the SEC news broke it seems. Lets see how dumb they are this year once it gets crunch time.

I said on this board in January of 2021 that ATM wasn’t going to be fucking around during that cycle. I stayed consistent with that message the entire time and we witnessed their building of momentum throughout. That POV was informed by 3 groups - people involved on the ATM end, people involved on the UT end and people covering this stuff for a living.

I can confidently say that this cycle isn’t that cycle, and I’ve been saying as much since February. I’m not worried about ATM in this cycle. They’ll have a good class, but they are facing an “everyone’s enemy” situation this time around. If they have another 8-4-ish season to boot, Ritz Bitz faces a tough row to hoe for the 2023 signing classes and beyond.

Looch is getting antsy

How does the perception and repeated assertion that A&M paid all of their 2022 recruits help/hurt our 2023 recruiting efforts? Are we seeing more high-profile recruits on campus earlier in the cycle, and/or are we seeing more recruits coming to visits with unreasonable expectation$?

It hurts. In a big way. Other schools are telling prospects that the Ags are going to be hammered by the NCAA (laughable), and it's absolutely set unreasonable expectations for folks coming in. On top of that, the Ags were never within a tenth of that alleged number, yet it sprung other scared coaches and donor bases into action. Now there really is INSANE amounts of money being thrown around with reckless abandon at most power programs. You guys have seen some of the deals out there being reported...just imagine what's happening behind the scenes right now on the recruiting trail. “Wild West” doesn't even begin to describe it.

NIL has noticeably impacted A&M recent targets committing to other schools. Do you think NIL or product on the field this fall will have a greater impact on those schools keeping those who have committed?

I don't think you'll see too much flipping around. What you're going to find out is that there's some pretty shady activity going around in terms of kids (even in the state of Texas) already getting paid, which is going to lock a lot of these guys in, at least to some degree.

Everyone here felt very confident in our position with Tony Mitchell‍. Then, it seems out of the blue he up and commits to Bama. Were the staff expecting this? Can you elaborate on why TM decided to commit?

I think it caught the Ags off guard for sure, but it is a five-star cover man from the state of Alabama who Nick Saban could NOT let get away. They'll do anything it takes to keep him, as well. Saban knows how important that is from a perception standpoint to a Tide fan base that he was basically shaming his donors into stepping up the Crimson Tide NIL game in order to 'keep up' with the Texas A&Ms of the world. Now, Tony has been in contact with the Aggies more than once since his somewhat-surprising commitment to Alabama. Jimbo Fisher & Co. are definitely still in contention and we'll probably see him here this fall. However, I think the manner in which Alabama secured the commitment may have locked him in.
.

How do we round out our DB hall for 2023?

Tough one to answer right now. Malik Muhammad‍ could truly go either way between A&M and Texas, IMO. Peyton Bowen‍ is also still a very real option. The Ags are also going to be very much in the hunt for the safety out of St. Louis who blew them away at camp and don't forget about Shiner's Dalton Brooks‍, who we've said all along Jimbo and Durkin are very high on.

Is it true we are being extremely selective this cycle due to a smaller class?

Yes, but you'd like to see more commits or at least heavy leans at this stage of the game. That's not intended to start a damn panic, mind you. It's just the truth. The Ags are going to try to change that in a big way over the next month or so.

Liucci who is your must-get guy this cycle and why is it Anthony Hill‍?

It's Anthony Hill for me. Very important recruit for the Aggies, and it's amplified because if he's not an Aggie, he'll be a Longhorn. Need to get him after just missing on Harold Perkins last cycle.

Do you think other schools (tu, Oregon, Louisville) are offering less kosher "NIL" deals due to the rumors of us doing it and they're trying to keep up?

I won't say who, but my answer is an unequivocal YES.

What record do you realistically see the sips having this year? I know people will say it doesn't matter but in regards to recruiting it does at least to some extent.
Texas?

I could see them going anywhere from 10-2 to 7-5. Too tough to call because they have such outstanding skill talent, but the line has a long way to go and the defense is still questionable. The level of competition is also a serious question with all Oklahoma State, Baylor, Iowa State, TCU and Oklahoma (both with new head coaches) have lost. Outside of Alabama, their schedule is about as easy as you'll ever see.

Emmanuel Acho said "something doesn't add up” - A&M signed the number 1 class after going 8-4? Now that Texas signed the number one recruit in '23 after going 5-7, what is your response to that?

I think you know my response to that. First, Arch Manning‍ is a very good prospect, but I'm looking at tape and factoring in competition and trying to figure out what makes him a better prospect than Weigman, Klubnik or Ewers from last year. Also wondering where all of the talking heads (and Longhorn loudmouths) are who said Jimbo — despite a career track record as an elite recruiter — and the Aggies couldn't recruit a slew of five stars coming off of a top-five finish.

Meanwhile, the Fashionista — who has been fired from his two previous head coaching gigs — now has three five-stars committed following a humiliating 5-7 finish that included a home loss to Kansas and six straight defeats.

And let's not forget that Acho is a Longhorn. At least he has an excuse, unlike many others in the CFB media

I'm guessing this will also result in a lot of portal entries.  Believe it was Stewart and Nolan were both being interviewed and said if aggy isn't in the top 10 they are going to have a problem.

If Looch is saying Muhammed could go either way then I think we all know which way he's leaning.

I saw that two of the 3 three stars are already committed, and went ahead and assumed that the lineman is as well and that’s the only reason there are any 3 stars on the list.  But they’ve been talking up the lb since his commitment so I’m sure those guys are all just under ranked, and the punter doesn’t count.

Finish the season as a top 10 CFB program or have the '23 recruiting class finish in the top 10.

That is exactly what I caught. Is that a thing? Is this a dig because Loreal is a fashion consultant? Or is it just because he doesn't show up to events in junior cowboy boots and a cocktail napkin bandana around his neck?

he clearly has nothing or he would say it.

Amazing that he isn’t noting that A&M was somehow in the front on a 5 star CB FROM Alabama. Either they set a high price early on and expected to win or the kid was using them as a stalking horse. There is no other reason. No Alabama CB would look at the two schools and think College Station was the choice without considerable compensation.

Nope. Has to be that Bama paid him a lot.

Wow. Klubnik and Weigman better prospects than Arch? Ok…..

If Arch played at Westlake he’d throw for 5,000 yards and lead Westlake to an undefeated state champion season

Boy am I glad Arch thinks Quinn and Maalik are scrubs!

Reminds me of that time Gilbert was so good he scared off all the QBs for the next few years. Worked out great.

That 3-13 passing in the spring game just scares QB recruits to death.

Is Sark the Fashionista? wtf?

Also lol at saying Sark got fired from his previous 2 head coaching gigs. Apparently leaving UW to take the USC job counts as getting fired in Looch's book. Good fact checking Billy!

Conner Weigman, 3/13, 68 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT

Jimbo the QB whisperer was at work during that Spring game.

Weigman still has lots to prove at college level too. In HS he was great but he also ran the ball a lot (far and away his team's leading rusher). Teams had to stop his running first which opened up his passing game. I'm not sure Jimbo wants his QBs running anymore...

well...yea! if you start at rock bottom, you can only go up. he's going to improve! to 7-13, maybe. who the fuck can compete against that?

Didn't realize Shanahan was a 3* on 247.  Rivals rating really propping him up.

On3 has him 52nd in the state, so right around 247, meaning Rivals is the massive outlier, which pretty much always means they’re in the wrong. I can’t wait to see all the aggy sites, including gigem247, listing onto his rivals rating if he commits.

Thank you, Billy, for a fairly succinct illustration of why people hate the Aggies. No, it's not because they're worried about keeping up with you. It's because you think that anyone is worried about keeping up with 8T4. It's elevated to hilarity that you name Saban and Alabama as worried about perception and having to shame Bama donors to act before the sleeping giant awakes and kills everybody.

And what the hell did Billy mean by "fashionista?"

Propofol does wear off quickly, but i’m guessing some Versed is onboard as well. We gotta keep them sedated cuz they’re constantly a threat in just one more season.

That will be most Saturdays for them this fall.  Max is a left handed Calzada.

It will be interesting to see Max's numbers last year vs. this year. LSU's offense was awful, but Max had a decent year stat wise. Jimbo's QBs have posted 24-20-19-17 HRs in successive seasons. Max had 27 last year for LSU.
