First TE off the board to undrafted would be peak aggy rollercoaster schadenfreude.

Wow.  Wasn't Wydermyer considered a possible 1st rounder before this past season?

Damn, Leon must have spent some quality time with a speed coach to get down in the 4.7s.

He was awful this season. Couldn't even catch Covid.

I would assume he is extremely lazy.

Shocked that Sloneal could muster up a 4.7, to be honest. Gotta be the shoes.

He was getting drug by Horns and ags alike, and doubled down about 10 times.  Dude had a very rudedawg/rock chewer vibe about him.

Who are going to be the TE's for aggy this year?  Cupp hit the portal, I honestly have no idea who else they have.  Max Wright?  Lulz.

Wright and the freshmen (Green, Johnson, the Euro)

2022 Texas A&M Aggies Football Depth Chart | Ourlads.com

According to Ourlads (which has depth charts for all schools), Cupp was the projected starter with freshmen Jake Johnson and Donovan Green behind him. They also moved Eli Stowers from QB to TE last year.

Edited by AP101S
Added names of the freshmen

2022 signee Jake Johnson, Max's brother, is a stud by the way. Probably won't be as a true freshman though

Leon would have been there, but he was running late.

Probably can't move Crownover back to TE at this point, he's probably too big

Also Blake Smith and Fernando Garza

So their starting TE, the dude that generally is the 1st or 2nd option in all of their passing game, just decides to sayFuck it, I’m out and nobody is asking questions on wtf is going on?

I get it if another WR bailed or even a RB, but the starting TE should be throwing out all sorts of warning signs..

Maybe he sees the NIL money that the new guys are making, realized he's not getting any of that, and said fuckit, I'm out.

I can see all sorts of dissension coming out of high schoolers getting million-dollar deals while guys who have worked their ass off for the team don't, and I'm confident that Jimbo has no ability to deal with it.

I heard Cupp was out with 2 girls last night.

no thanks

So the depth chart will probably be something like

Jake Johnson

Max Wright

Blake Smith

Donovan Green

Fernando Garza

Euro Guy

***

They have bodies, but the one potential impact player this year is a true freshman, albeit a really talented one

Does losing Cupp get them under 85 scholarships? Or is Jumbo just not worried about the numbers?

Good thing TE isn’t an important part of Jimbos offense

Surprising news today when I learned that fourth-year tight end and former five-star signee Baylor Cupp was entering the portal.

The highly-touted tight end was so impressive when he first stepped foot on campus, including having a big spring game debut, but injuries kept him from having any real impact in Aggieland. First, a broken leg suffered in fall camp cost him his true freshman season, which led to him being passed up by fellow 2019 signee Jalen Wydermyer. He was lost for the year again prior to the 2020 campaign (again in fall camp) and finally saw the field last season in very limited action. This spring ,Cupp was again battling injury while competing for playing time with several tight ends, including rapidly-emerging true freshman Jake Johnson when he decided it was time for a change of scenery.

It'll be interesting to see if Cupp - someone who everyone in the country recruited - aims high or if he looks for a landing spot where he's most likely to see the field from day one. The talent is and always has been there but he's just not been able to stay on the field long enough to progress as a player.

For the Aggies, this is the second five-star transfer this week, something that Longhorn fans will try to exploit (because the lower-rung fans on twitter actually believe they're impacting the process). The reality, however, is that both Cupp and Demond Demas - for entirely different reasons - simply hadn't panned out to this point and were going to have a difficult time nailing down starting positions. It's just the reality of the situation. And if you're wondering about the Ags' five-star track record, look no further than Kenyon Green, DeMarvin Leal, Bryce Foster and Jaylon Jones.

...not to mention how good Evan Stewart, Conner Weigman, Denver Harris, Shemar Turner and Tunmise Adeleye have looked this spring. Or Jake Johnson, for that matter, a high four-star who may or may not have factored into Cupp's ultimate decision.

Keep on eye on Baylor, because if he makes the right choice in program and can stay healthy, he still has a bright future ahead of him.

What a loser.  Can't even write a topic about a transfer without mentioning Texas.

Spin it however you want Liucci, you cant look past a decade of wasted WR recruits by Fisher. Cupp was an unexpected departure, a guy you wanted to keep. Talk up a true freshman all you want, but don't act like these don't matter. The cracks are starting to show.

By the way, Leal isn't getting drafted in the first round, and there's a decent chance Green isn't either. Which isn't a big deal in a vacuum, and is considerably better than what Texas will do in this draft, but aggies have been touting both for awhile as obvious first rounders

You have too much faith in the Cowboys who need OL at Pick #24.  Won't be surprised to see them end up with Kenyon Green.

yeah Green is going day 1 for sure, he's a really good player.  Leal.. now he's being projected as a day 2 pick (3rd rd).

There are about 50 "first rounders" for 32 first round spots. Some guys who you'd think are first rounders are going to fall
