I knew when I paid for the tickets in April that I'd never get to use them-- just wanted to keep my seating priority. I've had my seats for 30 years and I'm not about to quit now, but there's no way my 53-year-old double-cancer-survivor ass is going to a game until it's safe to do so. I love football, but my immune system is a shitstorm and I'm not an idiot. My answer to the survey was a solid "I will not be attending," and UT's response basically said "You're down as a no and if you change your mind, you need to call us ASAP." I was also told I'll get a call in mid-August about my refund options. Of course I will let them keep my Foundation donation, but I'm gonna want that $2000 for tix back. I do appreciate that UT is offering a refund as an option and not just a credit-- I imagine that many other organizations/schools will not be doing so.

With the current spikes, I just don't see how we're going to let 40-50k people in a stadium.  Bathrooms, concessions, and keeping distance will be impossible.

I picked #2 for more time, but probably opting out and trying next year.

I just cancel my LSU trip as well.

likely see them canceling concessions, or going with the vendor walking the crowd cashless only.  pissers properly man spaced meaning plastic bags wrapped on urinals, which will make for long lines at half time.  its possible, im sure sept 5th in the sun with a mask on will be enjoyable in the sun

I got you bro.

For an extra $75 a game, they will give you a UT branded catheter.

I'm sorry, but these are for smuggling booze INTO the stadium. If you then choose to use them as a means to empty your bladder during the game, be my guest.

Sadly, we said we aren't attending games, and are getting a refund.  It's a lot of money to park with the Longhorn Foundation not knowing where our seats will be for any given game and if we'll even have a full season.  And with the possibility of limited or no tailgating or concessions, we're fine just watching whatever games are played on TV.

I will be watching in the new house I just bought in Austin. I'm fine with limited crowds for one season.

This Texas team is going to fuck some teams up this year.

The Horns are going to give them the virus?

They’re going in without antibodies.

Just push the NCAA season to when people are calmed the fuck down these literal half measures don't even make sense.

Start the season 4-6 weeks later than usual.

I don't think 4-6 weeks gets us anywhere.  We'll be in the same place anyway.

Just don't want to hear any excuses from the corndogs after we lay an ass whoopin

F it.  I’m not a Hispanic so I’m all in.

Ohio State is limiting football fan occupancy to 20%.   Hmmm.
Banning tailgating too (sort of implied when discussing capacity limits but still).

Honestly I see zero appeal in attending games. He'll it was a pretty meh outlook just looking at the home schedule pre covid.

4-6 months not likely to have any significant changes either.

what about 4-6 decades? I dont think we can go that long without a ship

A ship is good.

Or, a compound in the Rockies for the survivors.  That one always works...

Once you've done one, the next three to five really fly by. Ask aggy.

This seems very un-CDC like to roll out a big announcement like that without having all the various stakeholders already looped in and standing next to him.  Either that, or Austin and the Travis County Commissioners were verbally on board and wanted to let CDC float the trial balloon announcement so they could come out later and be "surprised."

I just can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to go see this schedule:

SOUTH FLORIDA
UTEP
WEST VIRGINIA
BAYLOR
TCU
IOWA STATE

Denver International Airport has a bunker, from what I was told by a dude that once worked at Baskin-Robbins..?!

I'm guessing CDC was on the phone to UT's own infectious disease folks.

I still think it's a stretch - 25% or 30% capacity seemed more logical.

Yes, but think of the bathrooms.

I'll finally be able to pee without getting stage fright at the game!

It's not even college football without tailgating or fans at the game, just another shitty stale bud light commercial like the No Fun League.

Either cancel the season or push it until the panic is over, playing in empty stadiums is a joke. So is every digital fake fan attempt.

Key phrase to me is 'right now'. I take that to mean 1 week to a month from now. A lot can change by late September/early October. And it's not like they can't change, if needed.

We could be in the SEC and see Lamar, Prairie View, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, UTSA, Nicholls State, Sam Houston, and LSU. Whoop!

Now 25% per Hartzell

That makes way more sense.

I'm guessing the survey is coming back closer to 25% in vs 50% in.  So might as well look good by limiting to the size of expected crowd anyway.

Yeah, I was skeptical they could sell 50% of the seats with no restrictions

Doesn't UFC have their fights on an island in the Middle East to avoid restrictions? It is time for Texas Football to do the same. Azadi Stadium in Tehran seats 76K people. Let's do this.

I would assume that the Big 12 will follow suit and cancel South Florida and UTEP.  That leaves West Virginia, Baylor, TCU, and Iowa State.

They won't make it through 10 games without a lot of players and coaches getting sick. They can have fans, i won't be one. Hell, I got sick from work, thats wearing a mask, washing my hands and staying away from people. Chasing money brings the delusion.

It's super way down the list of important effects, but the conference-only schedule model is going to screw with computer ratings and models pretty severely. The computer ratings and models at the end of a conference-only regular season will necessarily have to include data on conference strength from previous seasons in order to rate teams from different conferences against each other.

Interesting thought, you're right of course.  No way to connect or correlate the data between the independent conference-pods.

I don't think it'll ever become relevant though, because I don't think we'll end up having a season.  At least not in the Fall.
