His recruiting had to be dead in the water after the allegations. And trying to convert the Muslim kids on the team was way out of line for a state employee.

Sounds like WVU decided to fire him as soon as they started to look in to the allegations.  Which means he is in fact an asshole.

Wait, what? He really did that?

I was being a bit glib on the particulars, but pretty much yeah:

Quote

During spring practices last year, Martin said, Koenning “antagonized” former WVU defensive back Derrek Pitts “for believing in something that he didn’t believe,” Martin said. Pitts is Muslim.

“He would make remarks about the Bible and talk about religion in front of Derrek, making him want to question the things that he believed,” Martin wrote.

......

Martin also claimed that he converted to Islam, Koenning brought him into his office repeatedly to talk about religion, reading Scriptures and giving Martin a book on “how to find Christ.”

Yeah, if that was corroborated then as a public institution you've gotta let that coach go.

I'm pretty sure a state employee should not be doing that.

He was 5-29 in 2000-02 as the Wyoming head coach, lol. How do these fuck face boomers keep getting jobs?

Plenty of good coordinators are dogshit head coaches. Two skill sets that only sort of overlap.

You’re -9 and still posting.

WVU fans do not seem to be happy about this.

Rednecks gonna redneck

I'd be happy with a coach who tried to talk kids into joining the Heaven's Gate cult if he could beat Iowa State.
