The 3X3 ladies lost today to Germany.  The way that games is played makes pretty much any game a toss up.  If someone gets hot and strings together 4-5 buckets a game can get away from you in a hurry

The game goes really fast. They use the ladies size ball but heavier, what's that about....

The US team with almost zero time together, which seems really important with no in-game coaching and the constant play.

Won gold in Tokyo, but not the favorite this year. Weird to be rooting for Van Lith...

The gold medal game was an absolute GRIND but the ladies get it done!!!

Insane ending in the women's gold medal game. USA was up 3 with 3.8 seconds left. France’s Gabby Williams banked it in at the buzzer, but her foot was on the line. USA wins by 1, securing a gold medal and keeping its 32-year Olympic unbeaten streak alive.pic.twitter.com/VIjTFRqkHA

That was a low skill display of basketball and thank goodness we were taller.

If the US offensive identity was to chuck up bricks and clean up the boards, forget clark, they should have brought Reece.

That was by far the worst game they've played.   They got killed on the o boards, turned it over way too much, missed a lot of bunnies and barely even shot 3s.   Didnt matter though.  Win is a win

Rebounds U.S. 48, France 39.     U.S. 16 Offensive boards, France 16 Offensive boards.
We shot the ball very poorly from 3  -  2 for 12 for 16%

We just are in no way used to games being played this physical. If this was a WNBA game half the France team would have fouled out.
US 16 fouls, France 25   - In international play we need to go ahead and bang the shit out of people, cause it's not getting called.
Big-time home game for France, the girls did great.

Need to do a better job of selecting the players, Taurasi never saw the floor this game.
Copper was huge in the fourth, France couldn't keep up with her speed.
Would have like to see Chennedy and Arike on this team.

Surprised the o board count was even.   Seemed like France was getting o boards constantly.  And yeah the refs were definitely letting them play.

DT not playing (Jewel Loyd didnt play either) yesterday was not a referendum on player selection.    Its a numbers game.   There are not enough mins in a 40 min gm to give 12 people meaningful mins so realistically someone (ideally 2 IMO) should sit every game.  In the blowout wins they had earlier it was easy to get everyone 5-6 mins but in a tight one you try and find something that works and then stick with it, minutes be damned.  BG only played 5 mins, Alyssa Thomas and Sabrina only played 10 each.

Its nice to have players who can be ready when they are called though. Copper and Ionescu didnt play until the 2nd half.  Sabrina didnt really move the needle while Copper definitely did so she stayed on the court once she got on playing almost the entire 2nd half.

Now we have 4 yrs to make sure the next team is stacked like this one is.   Aja and probably Sabrina are the only real locks given age.   CC, Angel, Paige and maybe even Juju (especially with the games being in LA) will be ready.  Will be interesting to see what the roster looks like by then.

The U.S women's basketball team's tense win over France on Sunday drew 7.8 million viewers on NBC and Peacock. That's for a 9:30am ET time start. The game peak at 10.9 million viewers for final half hour (11-11:30am ET).

Did good numbers even with the bad start time.

ESPN ranks the top 25 WNBA players heading into the second half of the 2024 WNBA season:1. A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas)2. Breanna Stewart (New York)3. Napheess Collier (Minnesota)4. Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut)5. Jonquel Jones (New York)6. Jackie Young (Las Vegas)7. Sabrina…

Interesting list.   I like Angel more than most clearly but I'm not sure she belongs on this list.   She is not better than any of the players she is above.

Was just coming to post this.   Could be a pretty big deal for a team that is in the #5 spot currently and has been playing pretty well all season to get someone as good as she is.   It could just as easily be an issue as she does need the ball in her hands a lot and they have Jewel and SkyDig with Nneka needing touches too.

More than ever its clear that Cathy Engelbert isnt the person to lead the league in its next steps of growth.   Daily there are reminders of that.

Angel is basically Andre Drummond at this point.    Huge rebounding numbers, shitty finisher.   She needs significant work on her finishing over the off-season if she is going to be anything more than a specialist

So let this be proof that Caitlin Clark commits these type of fouls too. Going for the block but hits Jordin Canada upside the head.

Wonder if this one will make the news and spark a million op-eds

Who cares. She's fun as fuck to watch and the best thing to happen to women's sports since Serena Williams.

Hate if you want - she's turning women's basketball into a household sport and I'm here for it. She can smack a few bitches along the way afaic.

Yes, just trying to block her shot. Absolutely did hit her in the head, but zero malicious intent.

As opposed to Chennedy Carter, who sees each foul as an opportunity to work out some childhood trauma.

She was.   Just like Angel was when she hit CC in the head a couple months ago.   Back then I said it was a basketball play that happens all the time but there were whole news stories about Angel "assaulting" CC and op eds about how much she hates CC.

No, we are not.

Clark's turnovers are an issue but she contributes massively to the success of her team. More points, assists, and shoots better than Angel. Steals and blocks about even.

Clark just tied the # 3 point shots in a year for a rookie with 10 games left (85).

Angel's claim to fame are her rebounds/double doubles. The criticism of her shooting so poorly and getting her own boards is legit. She's a good player and will be a league star for a long time, but she's not rookie of the year.

You would much rather have CC on your team to win games than Angel.

If you consider who contributes more the the success of the WNBA as a whole, the difference is laughable.

Yeah, I'll give them a bit of a pass cause most of those statements were made a couple months ago.   Shit has changed a lot since then.    CC has been basically 20/10 since then on improved efficiency and more importantly the Fever are streaking winning and moving all the way up into the playoff group.    Angel was playing better and the Sky were in a better position.

There was reasonable room for a debate then.   That shit is a wrap now.   There's more discussion for Angel v Rickea for #2 now

Not hating at all.   Just saying if its assault when someone hits her in the head (its not), its assault when she does it.   It was never anything other than a basketball play.

Yeah they were a gm or two better.   The Fever were worse last year (5 win difference) but using last year as a reference for the Sky isn't smart.    This year's team is completely different than last year's.  They only have one person left from last year's starting five (Elizabeth Williams) and she has only started 9 gms this year.   They only brought back 2 players from last year's team overall (Williams and Dana Evans).    They also replaced their coach.    Their record last year is irrelevant with that much change.

So they revamped their lineup and the fever brought back their shitty players?  Ok.  That’s another for Caitlin.
