February 14Feb 14 New CBA coming up I wonder if they will try to fight age restriction. I doubt considering how few spots there are currently in the league but they need to. Having to wait another 2 yrs to get Juju is not a good plan
February 14Feb 14 I don’t know how elite female athletes are spread among sports but you might think that if one women’s domestic pro league could ever seperate itself from the others with higher salaries, the athletes would tend to focus on that sport and it would grow organically that way. Maybe wnba is slowly doing that and there will be fewer volleyball only athletes, or dual sport athletes that choose volleyball (or soccer/track/whatever but chose vball because of shared traits) as they progress into high school and college. February 15Feb 15 Aaliyah Edwards has destroyed some of the best player in the game on the way to the finals of this 1v1 tourney. Now up 1 game (best 2 of 3) on Napheesa Collier. 200K for the winner.

Watching Booker last night I'm like... shit... she could play in the W tomorrow. 8 hours ago, Pato del Muerto said: I don’t know how elite female athletes are spread among sports but you might think that if one women’s domestic pro league could ever seperate itself from the others with higher salaries, the athletes would tend to focus on that sport and it would grow organically that way. I think you're probably right. Outside of Tennis and Golf it's the only legit women's pro sports league in the US. There are a few good women's soccer leagues overseas and I could see whatever the top tier is here gaining steam. I think what will mainly make it more popular is the growing star power of players like CC.

February 16Feb 16 The NWSL is a legit league as well. At worst, it’s the second best league in the world and is without question the deepest top to bottom. Volleyball has never been more popular or competitive for girls. The best girl athletes generally already focus on one sport by the age of 13 or so. You can dabble in another sport but you can’t really participate at the elite level in more than one the way the systems operate. HS basketball is still a thing although AAU is much more important for recruiting. HS soccer is entirely irrelevant for D1 level players who are increasingly not playing HS at all. Colleges straight up tell their commits not to play HS.

I don't know one person who gives a single fuck about the NWSL.

It’s more about the WNBA separating itself from the NBA. Higher salaries won’t happen if that happens. And in the meantime, higher salaries are dependent on how much the NBA is willing to give.

March 9Mar 9 If they are smart they will throw the season to the Fever and negotiate at maximum strength
March 9Mar 9 It's shocking how fucking stupid Reese is. She's like pantheon-level idiot athlete all time. I hope - and am assuming - the rest of the league understands that a lockout wouldn't work.

But nah...they'll continue to have owners and players pretending that it's NOT Clark moving he needle.

April 14Apr 14 The wnba draft is back! Live from the hotel ballroom in Peoria Illinois! Golden state valkyries are the new expansion team to really water down the layups and bricks we will get to see all summer.

Golden State selected Kaitlyn Chen (Princeton => UCONN this year) in the 3rd round. She’s pretty good, and I have a gut feeling that they will figure out a way to market a Chinese-American from California (San Marino in SoCal/LA County) in the San Francisco area. It may be a stretch, but there may be a few locals who might see her as an inspiration.

April 15Apr 15 KVL sure didn't seem like she enjoyed going to the Sky...that was the biggest "I gotta smile while talking" I've seen a LONG time. I've heard her and Reese are friends, but KVL did not fit on that team with her...and unless Reese has learned to pass out her Rebounds to a legitimate PG to make a play, it'll be more of the same.

April 15Apr 15 HVL looked bangin on draft night. Sheesh. Gonna go with she found out Chicago wanted to draft her at 11 before the Empire State Building pic and she was pissed about having to play with Angel again.
April 16Apr 16 Gonna be interesting to see the WNBA heads explode again this year when 2 new blond, white girls and an Asian named Kaitlyn take all the endorsement money.
