Man the Fever are really struggling without CC.  Just got popped by the Dream by 20.   They have a lot of other injuries too but they are struggling.    The season is pretty short and they will need to get on a run to get back to a high seed

The sky, with Reese, aren’t doing any better.

WNBA TV ratings are down more than 50% since Caitlin Clark’s injury. Reporting by my @usatodaysports colleague ⁦@JeffZillgitt⁩: https://t.co/E9xhNQNHZU

This is funny I swear I saw a bunch of tweets mon/tues about how sunday's game with the Liberty vs Sky was some bench mark or something.

Glad to see Bueckers back, and she had a monster game. Maybe that break due to being sick did her some good.

35/6/4   Couldnt get the win though.  Arike only had 10.   Might not happen this yr but they are going to have to do something about Arike.   Its still pretty early in their pairing and Paige isnt a selfish player so there is some hope but I'm not convinced they can work together

As Paige blossoms into the player we know she can be Arike, will have to sacrifice not being such a chucker anymore because that won’t be conducive to winning. If she can’t change her game I hope they get rid of her. The coach needs to start reining her in.

I've been preaching this. Arike is like Tim Hardaway Jr. Can have amazing games...great scorer often. But isn't going to be a key piece on a true winner.

The year before Clark the came in, the starts only got like 90K votes...

This vote isn't even over.

Apparently the WNBA draft will be in Dallas.  I say that based on the building with the green lights around it during the commercial.  I have had some alcohol tonight. I would like to draft some WNBA players myself.  The SF team is the Valkyries.  That's kind of cool.  My team will be the Furies.  I think both Oxford and Smith College use The Furies as their mascots.  The women I have known have been furious with me.

Serious question: you gon rep this post or what?  No matter what, Bullneck's brain is showing signs of function.  Brain function is good and worthy of +rep.  I'm stating the obvious.

Edit your post to read "Furries" and there's a strong likelihood of my donating some positive rep.

Good morning, all.  I am hale and hearty and awake and eating a delicious breakfast.

But wait, I see my computer was hacked last night and someone . . . someone has been making abominable posts on my account.  Heavens!!

The Fever have a nice little squad. Caitlin is still inconsistent but they don't always need her to ball out. She's 3/13 with 7 turns tonight but they're kicking the shit out of 9-5 Seattle on the road.

She definitely has some of that Curry gravity that makes everything easier for her teammates and warps defenses. She just needs to continue to play smarter and increase her efficiency.

She's also a very good defender.

Satou Sabally with 7 threes tonight helping to lead the Mercury to a big time win over the champs..   Satou having a great season. PHX finally have their big 3 of Copper, Alyssa Thomas and Satou all healthy.   They already had the 3rd best record.   Gonna be a tough out in the playoffs.

Why is Paige not playing tonight?

She balled out last night.

Quote

Paige Bueckers is the first player in WNBA history to record a game with 25+ points, 5+ assists, 2+ steals, 2+ blocks, and zero turnovers.

Man Arike can play but she has to be maddening to play with.   Simple 2 on 1 break and she pulls up at the 3 pt line and fires a jump pass to the player running the wing.  I used to think she just didnt want to pass but I'm starting to think she CANT pass

#1179

The Vegas/PHX game has been great.   Back and forth action.     My favorite rookie, Aaliyah Nye, is heating it up with a career high  15 pts.   Aja doing Aja things with 22/16/6asts   Alyssa Thomas with 16/7/8.   Phx up 1 78-77 with 2 mins left in the gm

$250M per franchise.  Up 5x from what the Valkyries paid just a few yrs ago.

#1181
So, something to keep note: New WNBA teams — Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia — paid $250M each to secure an expansion franchise. Other expansion teams paid less. Golden State paid roughly $50M. Toronto paid $115M and Portland paid $125M. In other words, there’s growth in the WNBA.

I’m surprised Houston was not in  the mix. The Comets were an original WNBA team and were successful until Leslie Alexander sold them to the wrong person. I guess Tillman is too busy eating pasta in Italy.

#1183

There aren't enough good players to fill the teams they have, but I guess as long as the NBA keeps funneling money to them, they're aggy rich.

#1184

Yeah seems like too much growth too soon.

GS just started playing this year...not sure how soon for Toronto and Portland, but they probably should have given it some time before adding more...especially 3 more all at once.

Haley Jones can't find a team which is a shame because she's a very nice girl.

Who I may or may not also follow on instagram.

I dont really think so.    Every  yr multiple 1st round picks have not made teams.   There have been calls for expansion for yrs.     GS is actually very competitive (currently the 6 seed) which furthers that point.   There is talent out there on the fringe that can produce if given the opportunity.

When is the WNBA going to play a longer schedule?

They've increased the season length twice over the last few yrs.   They went from 36 to 40 gms 3 yrs ago.   Then they are going to a 44 gm schedule this yr.   I suspect they will go to 50 gms by the time the new teams start playing.

Caitlin and Phee are the captains.   I think they are letting the captains pick this yr.

Why not 82?

You want to get paid like the men play the same number of games.

Yeah but 3 more teams after 2 more are added soon...that's 6 new teams in less than 5 years. Seems very fast.

Fever star Sophie Cunningham on the WNBA expanding to multiple new cities over the next few years:"I don’t know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or [Cleveland]"

Have to agree with her. Bypassing Houston, Miami and Nashville and choosing rust belt cities seems dumb.

Detroit and Cleveland have history as they both had teams previously.   Being from Detroit I've seen firsthand there has been a long running push by fans to bring the Shock back.

The NBA added 4 team in 2 yrs between 88-90 then 2 more 5 yrs later.   There is precedent.

Why would ownership volunteer to double the league’s losses

Houston had the first WNBA dynasty with the Comets and there has been a lot of desire and interest locally for them to come back. It’s shocking markets the size of Houston and Miami got passed up.
