My kid and I both thought that was wide and hit the back of the net.  Were we the only ones?

That’s what I thought at first, too

    Mane - Kepa - Mane!

  • Been a huge fan of Tsimikas for at least four days now. Very excited to see us land him. I wonder if he might be able to cover at RB as well, because apparently he's got a good right peg on him.

We need to get all 3 pts today. Wolves are in worse disarray than we are.

while we wait, i thought i would comment on this belatedly....

klopp is the best candidate for the job and he has to say he isn't taking the job.

Big 3 pts...

5pts back from 4th...9 games left

Let's Go!!!

hats off to the back line, especially Kapab/Phillips but also impressed with Trent back there as well.  Worse Mane performance I can remember.

Almost cost us at the end.  Take it to the corner or hit Robertson on the overlap.  Just don't dribble into a double team and lose the ball.

He’s killing us lately. Don’t know what the deal is but he can’t seem to beat anyone off the dribble anymore and doesn’t seem to make the runs in behind as often.

If we make it through, we’d avoid City, Bayern, or PSG in the next round.

That's some glass half-full thinking right there, my friend!

Anyone you face is tough, but agree if we can get past Madrid then Chleski/Porto is better than City/Dortmund/PSG/Bayern.

In one game, anything can happen.

Honestly the best draw any of the 4 teams in our pod could have asked for. Best 3 teams are on the other side of the bracket.

VVD pulls a Willis Reed for the final in Istanbul? It is written.

Great draw for us....if we get hendo back and play well I can see us making the final

Got the easy side of the bracket for sure

Not a bad draw for this round. Next round is brutal if we make it thru.
Porto/Chelsea is brutal???

Well call me surprised, a fucking nice Nike kit???

Gini to barca??? If the new rumors (and old) seems its done...

Shame to lose gini plus on a free...ouch

So we may be getting Konate from Leipzig?

Liverpool, Red Sox owners FSG confirm RedBird investment — now valued at $7.35bn

Spoiler

Liverpool and Boston Red Sox owners Fenway Sports Group have confirmed the investment by RedBird Capital Partners.

The deal values FSG, which is principally owned by John W. Henry, at $7.35 billion (£5.32 billion).

LeBron James has become a part-owner of the Red Sox as part of the deal. James has had a long-term stake in Liverpool, along with Maverick Carter and Paul Wachter. Those will be converted to stakes in FSG.

The company has other subsidiaries, including sports cable network NESN, NASCAR team Roush Fenway Racing and Fenway Sports Management.

Who are RedBird?

RedBird were founded by Gerry Cardinale, who is the managing partner of the company.

They manage $4 billion of capital and focus on company-building, while looking to earn equity returns over a longer holding period.

What does this deal mean for Liverpool FC?

This investment will allow continuity and stability for a club which has been hit hard by the impact of the global pandemic. Anfield officials now estimate that COVID-19 has cost them £120 million in lost revenues. The owners chose to carry those costs in the form of additional debt and borrowing against FSG rather than Liverpool specific as it made more sense financially.

A portion of the Red Bird investment will be new capital on the FSG balance sheet to reduce the debts incurred over the past 12 months running organisations such as Liverpool.

The benefit to Liverpool of using capital from this for FSG debt reduction is it removes the risk of the club’s plans to redevelop the Anfield Road stand being jeopardised by the ongoing financial crisis. Back in December, Liverpool submitted a planning application for a £60 million project which would increase Anfield’s capacity to around 61,000.

What about any impact on money to spend on transfers?

Aside from the Anfield Road plans, the additional benefit to Liverpool of the structure of this investment is that it allows for funding for player recruitment and retention in line with Liverpool’s normal strategy and practices.

It won’t suddenly give Jurgen Klopp a massive transfer kitty for the summer window. But it will enable Liverpool to operate as they would usually — despite the unprecedented losses incurred due to the pandemic.

What does this deal mean for the Red Sox?

In the short-term, the deal should improve the Red Sox' cash flow. Major-market teams in baseball suffered the most financially during the pandemic. Despite the fact that they often have the largest television deals, big-market teams are usually more reliant on the gate and carry larger payrolls than their smaller-market counterparts.

The arrangement sets up an interesting question: If, years from now, Henry or his co-owners ever decide to sell the team, would Red Bird pursue a larger stake?

Short of that, the effects on the Red Sox seem likely to be felt more indirectly over time. The Red Bird deal speaks more to the expansion and growth of FSG's overall offerings than a change to the Red Sox alone.

What has been said?

FSG’s leadership group said: “Over the years, Fenway Sports Group has been able to attract a dedicated group of executives and partnerships seeking to compete for titles in the most challenging and rewarding landscapes.

“Our strategic partnership with Gerry and the entire team at RedBird will enhance our ability to pursue future growth opportunities in a more accelerated way but with the same selectiveness that has served us so well.

“We are also pleased to welcome to our ownership group LeBron, Maverick and Paul, with whom we have enjoyed a successful collaboration for well over a decade. Their addition is an important milestone for FSG and expands and deepens a longtime friendship and relationship that began in 2010.

“To our fans and supporters: Winning continues to be the driving force for all of us. The growth of FSG as an organization allows us to further strengthen our resources and commitment to the communities we serve, and we look forward to having these talented new partners join us in the next chapter of FSG’s evolution.”

Cardinale added: “Fenway Sports Group is unique not only for the quality of its sports properties and assets but for the highly disciplined, results-oriented organisation that John, Tom, Mike and the FSG team have built over the past 20 years. RedBird shares the same passion for performance-driven investing, business operations, fan experience and service to the community.

“We look forward to contributing our experience growing premier sports properties and working alongside this tremendous leadership team, including our fellow new owners LeBron, Maverick and Paul.”

Ramos is out for our matches with Madrid
Kinda torn...our players will be safer but I wanted to see salah torch him for 3 goals

Bobby is back for Arsenal. With Jota's form, I kinda hope the lineup stays the same.  Or maybe a 4-2-3-1 with Gini getting a rest.

I think some of the guys who were not away on international duty will get a run out. Ox seems like a good bet at facing his former club after he had a good cameo against Wolves.

This break has felt about as long as most offseasons.

Come on Bobby. Stop playing so damn lazy.
