I just figured that being forced to watch that much Mourinho-ball would eventually cause a brain hemorrhage in anyone.

Burton, Barnsley, and Sunderland relegated from the Championship. Cardiff and Wolves win automatic promotion. Fulham, Villa, Derby, and Middlesbrough go into the playoffs for the final promotion spot.

If only I could have watched it, it must have been something.

2nd place went to Cardiff City, the scores might have changed, the results didn't:
Cardiff City 0, Reading 0
Birmingham 3, Fulham 1

The last playoff spot went to Derby County, despite a red card laden Preston scoring to win their game late
Derby County 4, Barnsley 1
Preston 2, Burton 1

What must have been something else was the relegation battle, because it changed a lot near the end.

Fulham or Villa for that final spot. Either would be fun to have back in the Premiership.

So on the relegation race, what I was saying:

Cardiff City 0, Reading 0 - Reading probably felt safe with Barnsley getting thumped and they couldn't get caught by Bolton.

Birmingham 3, Fulham 1 - Birmingham was up 2-0 and probably feeling comfortable. It got tight with a Fulham score in the 84', but Birmingham got that back in the 89' and put it away.

Derby County 4, Barnsley 1
Preston 2, Burton 1
Bolton 3, Nottingham Forest 2

This was the drama.  Starting the day the race was:
Barnsley 41/-21
Burton 41/-42
Bolton 40/-36
Sunderland relegated

Derby Country scored first (14'), moving Burton out of relegation and pushing down Barnsley: Burton, Barnsley, Bolton
Preston would then score (26'): Barnsley, Bolton, Burton on GD.
That is how the games would go into the half.
50' Preston gets a red card forcing them to 10 men
55' Derby County tightens the screws with a 2nd goal, but Barnsley were still safe
63' Burton levels their game, moving them up: Burton, Barnsley, Bolton
67' Boton goes up 1-0, moving them to safety: Bolton, Burton, Barnsley
68' Derby takes Barnsley's fate out of their hands with a 3rd, they would then need help to stay up (each club would get 1 more, but they don't matter)
70' Forest helps equalizing: Burton, Barnsley, Bolton
79' Forest take a 2-1 looking like it was the end for Bolton
87' Bolton get one back 2-2, but they still needed 1 more ....
88' Bolton get's that one 3-2: Bolton, Burton, Barnsley
90+3' Insult to injury, Preston score a 2nd to beat Burton to push them down the standings: Bolton, Barnsley, Burton

Rushing back Kane has been bad for Spurs. He hasn't played well at all the last month since coming back from injury.

In case anyone cares, the last second goal against Everton didn't really change the equation for Southampton. Get three points against Swansea on Tuesday and Southampton are essentially staying up on GD (baring a 8 goal difference collapse on Sunday)

Edited by yoladu

also of interest.... for West Brom to stay up these things have to happen.

01) the Swansea/Southampton game on Tuesday must end in a draw.

02) Southampton must lose against City on Sunday

03) Swansea must lose against Stoke on Sunday

04) West Brom must beat Palace on Sunday and make up a 4 goal differential with Southampton

Spurs fans sweating

I reckon Liverpool fans should start sweating a bit, too. It's a funny game.

Probably not but damn that would make the CL final even more interesting

why probably not? Liverpool has only one game left to play. If...

Spurs beat Newcastle and Chelsea beat Huddersfield midweek

going into the final weekend it will be

3 Tottenham 74

4 Liverpool 72

5 Chelsea 72

all three teams have should be wins on Sunday (Leicester, Newcastle, and Brighton) , but i imagine one of those games may not go as we think.

It will be interesting. Pool on 72 at 37 matches.

Spurs 71, Chelsea 69 at 36 matches.

Lot of ifs, but CL qualification and relegation is going to make this a very interesting 7 days.

I went and looked up our EPL predictions over on Shaggy, and some are pretty funny. Two things that stuck out to me- people saying Burnley would be relegated, and (I shit you not), “City in first is crazy. They suck.”

Yep. Followed up by G650 who said, “Pre-fucking-cisely.”

To be fair, how many said Leicester would never be able to maintain and win the league.

Seriously, though ... Villa in great end-of-season form.  I expect Villa and Fulham to both advance from the first round and face each other for that last spot.  Should be a fun next couple of weeks.  :)

Fuck that.  Let's get some new old blood.  Go Derby!

This is awesome, and I believe it’s what the kids refer to as “savage”:

A win for either pretty much guarantees another year in the PL.

So Liverpool is going to put in for Soares, eh?

No Charlie Adam and the lack of a single Everton player on that team makes it invalid.

This first 10 minutes has been intense. Like Mountain Dew intense!

Soton has had some chances. Swansea's keeper doing pretty well to keep them out.
