Sorry, Nuge.  Cancer sucks.  Tuesday is a family dinner to commemorate the passing of my wife's dad 1 year ago.  We're going to a shitty TexMex joint with all the siblings, because Fred loved shitty TexMex.

I'm gonna get cheese enchiladas with fresh onions on top, because he couldn't tolerate fresh onions but always ordered them anyway.

He's gone. Joe died last night.

I take comfort in knowing he's no longer in pain and suffering. My thoughts now turn to my sister. Our mom is flying down today to support her and help with the after. I'll fly down soon to help, too. Friends are reaching out to me that want to help and support but don't want to intrude in my sister's time of grief. This is going to be rough for her.

Fuck you, Cancer!

So sorry, man. Peace, in time, to your sister and the rest of y’all.

I’ll tell you this- my sister showed up unannounced at my house the day after my wife died, and it was a blessing. I was wreck, and she helped me get organized. Our good friends did too.

I never felt like any of that was an intrusion. I doubt your sister will.

Sorry for y’all’s loss. From what you said, it sounds like Joe was a really good guy. Gone way too soon.

Fuck cancer.

Helpful thread that you never want to join.

I'm heading out now as my friend has no more options from the doctors and is heading downhill fast.

From his wife, he has started some hallucinations..agitation, and anger are setting in. He doesn't want to go, who would..

We are just hoping to be supportive of the family, wife, and kids.

The kind of father, brother, friend, teacher that you think only exists in fairy tale books. Loved to laugh and live life to the fullest. Gave everyone all of himself including countless kids in some of the worst schools of our area.

Yes, it's colon...diagnosed over a year and 6 months ago. He is giving it quite a run.

He's gone..we are one less Longhorn today

That’s awful news that I’m sorry to hear. May your friend rest in peace and the family have some comfort that he is no longer in pain.
