September 5, 20205 yr Help me out Surly... What are the rules for CFB players sitting out due to "high risk contact tracing" related to Covid?? (Thought I heard 3-5 days minimum quarantine and two negative test results before returning??) The contact tracing rules result in holding out 44 players -- that's CRAZY!!

September 6, 20205 yr Found a summary... Longhorns in the NFL: Roster tracker as team's cut down to 53 On Sept. 5, NFL teams were forced to make cuts in order to trim their roster down to 53 players. While the deadline is a celebration for some, it’s absolutely heartbreaking for others. Unfortunately, several former Longhorns will be looking for a new opportunity elsewhere as they did not make the initial 53-man roster for their respective teams. A few of the Texas ex’s are expected to either be signed to the practice squad and/or be picked up by another team. Let’s take a closer look at the players that were considered on the bubble to survive the final round of roster cuts. Still on 53-man Roster Andrew Beck – TE/FB Denver Broncos Calvin Anderson – OL Denver Broncos Malcolm Roach – DL New Orleans Geoff Swaim – TE. Tennessee Titans Collin Johnson -- WR Jacksonville Waived by current team P.J. Jerrin Thompson was the first guy to get his off and he's not coming anywhere close to the starting lineup this year. Edited September 7, 20205 yr by texifornia

Having a true freshman OL come in who’s ahead of schedule is not a sign the OL’s in a bad place, and getting his stripe taken off is not a sign he’s anywhere near seeing the field. Hell, if he gets some action during blowouts it wouldn't be a bad thing. We should get concerned if he sees the field while the outcome is in question. Very concerned.

Yes, think we should fire him before the game next week? I think it would be the prudent, wise thing to do. This stripe business will have us wandering the wilderness of mediocrity throughout this decade if we dont act right away.

September 7, 20205 yr Prediction: Schooler becomes a fan favorite due to his special teams demon nature and wild ass hair. He can play offense or defense, valuable during a pandemic. And he goes on to have a nice guaranteed spot on an NFL roster the next 8: years because of the special teams thing. A great addition.
September 7, 20205 yr I hope Gabriel Watson surprises folks and kicks ass at Texas so he gets a shot playing on Sundays... might be a great 3rd down back and special teams player!!
September 7, 20205 yr Watson will probably lead us in rushing on Saturday, due to being up 42-0 at halftime.
