The Dallas-bound Boeing 737-700 made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Firefighters could be seen outside a Southwest Airlines plane on the airport tarmac. Some passengers were led off with crutches by firefighters. Passengers shared photos of an engine with major damage. The engine inlet appears to be shredded with metal bent outward. One terrified passenger posted a live video to his Facebook page during the ordeal. The grainy footage shows a man attempting to secure his yellow oxygen mask while updating loved ones following his feed. "Something is wrong with our plane! It appears we are going down! Emergency landing!! Southwest flight from NYC to Dallas!!" Facebook user Marty Martinez wrote. He then added, "We are bracing for landing!!" The woman who apparently was pulled out of the plane is said to have been rushed to a Philadelphia hospital.

April 17, 20187 yr With wifi on planes being so prevalent now I am waiting to see the footage and social media posts from passengers' smartphones. Terrifying. Sucks for the lady who they took to the hospital though.
April 17, 20187 yr Holy shit. Reports of a women being partially sucked out of the plane when it depressurized, but that passengers pulled her back in.
April 17, 20187 yr God damn that has to some scary shit. My buddy was on a SWA flight back from Phoenix that had an electrical fire and the cabin filled with smoke. He came back to work pretty fucked up about it.
April 17, 20187 yr At least they're not Allegiant. (Watch 60 Minutes from this past Sunday.)Or Sun Country https://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/nation/2018/04/17/sun-country-cancellations-leaves-dozens-stranded-mexico/33910095/
April 17, 20187 yr Wait, that flight tracker is from the turbulence from before today, right?Looks like they tried to push a landing but caught the storm?

April 17, 20187 yr Meh. I was referring to the MSY diversion. It's not like she got totally sucked out.

April 17, 20187 yr SWA is just doing a trial run for new Boarding Group "D", which doesn't guarantee you a seat, but does let you ride on the outside of the plane for as long as you can hang on.
April 17, 20187 yr There were140 souls and five crew members onboard that flight to Dallas when the engine exploded. There were also 3 gingers. Edited April 17, 20187 yr by BottleRocket

But her serious response was "See, I told you that we need to keep the kids in their car seats during flights! If it was them they would have fit right through the window!" She has a point though...

April 17, 20187 yr Friend of a friend flies for SWA. Sent the audio from the tower. This was a fun quote... “Please have medics for injured passengers. The plane is pissing parts and someone went out” Dispatch: “I’m sorry, someone went out?!?!?”

I remember a report coming out about their pilots responding in a survey that they don't allow their families to travel with them out of concern for their safety. Sad thing is they have expanded significantly since moving to the South Terminal in Austin.

People that fly those airlines choose only the lowest fare available without regard to anything else. In the case of Allegiant, a lot of their flights are charted casino junkets where there is no alternative to the free flight. With respect to the SW flight today, I believe the woman who was partially sucked out is critically injured at least. One guy a few rows behind her said that they tried to revive her through CPR but couldn't. There was blood everywhere. (Reported to D Magazine). The whole thing sounds really bad. CPR actually really sucks and rarely works in keeping someone alive without significant brain damage when performed outside a hospital. Edited April 17, 20187 yr by Pasken
