September 18, 20214 yr I figure the keys were something about keeping him from going home. The simulation kept putting him back on track to get the church nightclub. I loved the pub guys getting into the episode. I always wanted to see outside of the pub. Edited September 18, 20214 yr by Nice Guy Eddie

September 18, 20214 yr I thought the episode was a lot of fun. Now I’ll wait around for this thread to be hijacked by some guy who didn’t like it and wants to make the discussion more about him.
September 18, 20214 yr It wasn't my favorite episode. I love when shows take chances but I like Beard in smaller doses.

September 18, 20214 yr It was a fun episode. Not great, but fun, good filler. He needs a pep talk just to kill himself, and I want to be the one to give that pep talk.
September 18, 20214 yr Loves this episode. Beard has always intrigued me and we learned a bit about his chaotic non-centered life.

Beard couldn't carry episodes on his own, but one per season would be interesting especially if it's meant as a bonus, special episode. I wasn't a fan of the Xmas episode and I imagine others will hate this one.
September 18, 20214 yr I enjoyed it up through about half of it. That was enough aimless chaos for me.
September 18, 20214 yr i am confused... is this the same girlfriend who is a controlling psycho and are "not healthy together" according to Higgens. All the Diamond Dogs agreed, but didnt want to confront Beard on it. What are we rooting for here? i dunno, ...kinda meh on the episode.. felt like i was watching a not so good knock off of "After Hours". Edited September 18, 20214 yr by yoladu

September 18, 20214 yr That was one of the weirdest 45 minutes of TV I have ever watched. It was funny in its own way but I was ready for it to end but the time it was over. Beard is a great character but that was just too much inanity.
September 18, 20214 yr Just finished it. OkayNot sure what I just saw but I’m just happy to be along for the ride.

September 18, 20214 yr I noticed the blue moons throughout, which Ted wrapped up with the Benny Hill montage but what was the significance of Beard dropping his keys multiple times?

Blah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah blah blah. Jfc.

I am leaning towards: "Coach's Odyssey (with all due respect to Homer and the Coen Brother's O Brother Where Art Thou)." My favorite episode - and we have all had nights and mornings like that. Epic storytelling, literally.
September 18, 20214 yr Said earlier, if they were doing a show centered around 1 character, Beard would’ve been about my 12th choice, In general I stand by that statement but it turned out to be a better episode than I expected.

September 18, 20214 yr i hope we do get another episode dedicated to Beard, one that really sheds light into his life before coaching. i'm particularly interested in seeing more from the time in his life when he was a pot smoking, cannibalistic drifter from the Greendale, Colorado area:

September 18, 20214 yr Yeah, I thought the Beard episode was fantastic. A nice, weird side story that gives a little more insight to a secondary character.
September 18, 20214 yr I really liked it. There were scenes which seemed too quiet but that is kind of his personality. I loved how he turned it up for the Oxford guys and how after getting tossed out the hooligans came clean and still had fun with those guys. How they put together 20 quid was subtle and underscored their situation only to see them blow their winnings on a limo. The dancing was fun as well, as was Beard’s nonchalant attitude when it was all over. And of course the Benny Hill theme to the game. I think we need one for our recent game.
September 18, 20214 yr That was a really fun episode. They did a great job pulling off the Scorsese look, too.
September 18, 20214 yr I couldn’t place the quote where he said this Tuesday will be the greatest day for her or something. I felt like it was fight club maybe?

September 18, 20214 yr anyone else feel like the actor who plays Beard could have been a McPoyle cousin?
September 18, 20214 yr someone posted this video to the Arsenal subreddit: and this is what the comment section looked like: you'll have to be familiar with Alexis Sanchez to LOL like i did, but suffice to say i did lol at these comments, and was actually surprised that i hadn't made that connection yet. absolutely boundless energy and a "football is life" mentality describes Alexis to a "T". maybe check out some of that video if you're unfamiliar- you can't miss his frenetic energy and his infectious smile.
September 18, 20214 yr also, does it bother anyone else to see "Danny Rojas" as opposed to "Dani Rojas"? one of those odd things that make me feel like nails on a chalkboard.
September 18, 20214 yr Overall, I wished it had advanced the narrative more, but it did have a few LOL moments. I still don't like Jane for Beard and it's weird that they seem to want us to like her now. I do like thinking about Beard having lots of these nights that we've just never seen before.
