I think any well adjusted person not delusional with grandeur would not take them as slights, but Nate has some issues. I think his issues obviously stem from his dick of a father. It will be interesting to see if he remains full heel in the third season or if he has a moment of redemption. At any rate, after watching both seasons a second time, I still absolutely love the show. I can’t wait for Season 3. I think "Mangino". Great at designing plays. Probably picked on his whole life. Is a shitstain when given a position of authority. September 22, 20223 yr i've been slowly working my way back thru s2, and though nate gets "shit on" a little here and there, he is way more of an asshole to others than others are to him. i stand by my eyeroll emoji.

The only person that is truly an asshole to him is his dad. You could said the maître d' at the restaurant was a bitch, but she eventually was nice enough to let them have the window seat. Nate was a dick to everyone once he got promoted to coach. Edited September 22, 20223 yr by Hate
September 22, 20223 yr This show has always featured the dynamic of fathers and sons. Ted having panic attacks and wanting to be super positive all the time because his father committed suicide. Jaime being a dick and not living up to his potential because of his hard charging father. Nate never being good enough to his always disapproving father. We don't really know about Beard and Roy's relationships with their dads but they seem to be the most grounded characters who are happy in their own skins.

December 19, 20223 yr Hurry up and get Season 3 post'd before it all unravels before our eyes, like our basketball season. Or this is a nothing-berder, but either way it'll loom over production which still has weeks, if not months to go still.
December 19, 20223 yr The internet is a truly amazing place From this: Quote This Emmy winner makes time for being a sex pest when he isn’t dealing with some very public drama. Apparently he has a habit of whipping his dick out in front of unconsenting women, namely younger writers who see him as a mentor. Can you believe it? To this:

I hate to be the "curious timing" skeptic.....at the tail end of his smash hit show that would likely set him up to do anything he wants in TV/film? Then again, if this goes back to SNL days...I could believe it. The couple of folks I've known that worked there said it's nothing like the 70's or 80's, but it's still a scene of debauchery. Writers and interns and PA's...and then cast on top of that with the members of the house and guest bands. They're all crammed together (those studios' quarters are a lot tighter than they look on TV), in the weeks there's a live show, from Monday to Sunday noon for 80+ hours that week. And to this day, still lots of booze, drugs, and hooking up. i'm sure some unwanted dicks have come out to deliver a monologue or two. Who knows? I just selfishly want to enjoy Season 3 without this kinda thing looming over it. csb/ I got on some corporate training mailing list awhile back from a company called Lattice (they're like HR meets leadership training). so they held a zoom keynote last summer with Jason Sudeikis to ask him about his approach and Ted's to personal development and training leaders. Jason did most of the interview straight, but did a few moments as Ted. It was really thoughtful and caring, and a little funny. Now in hindsight I may have watched an HR video starring a serial flasher. If that's not some Ted Lasso irony, I don't know what is. csb

December 22, 20223 yr wife and I just finished this. started watching a couple of weeks ago and were watching 1-2 episodes per night. overall loved the show and looking forward to season 3. my lame-ass comments: 1. Nate's heel turn makes no sense and I agree with everyone else who says so. He has no motive and was being a dick to the new kit dude for no reason. 2. Rebecca was a great heel and I wish she'd stayed that way a bit into Season 2. Unlike Nate she had a pretty strong motive to see Richmond fail and fail hard. Just thought she made the turn too easily. 3. Liked Jamie's redemption arc even though it was kind of predictable. 4. Roy fucking Kent

January 19, 20232 yr fifrealityonsurlyNo shit. I’ve gone back and watched this show probably 5 times now and I still find things that I didn’t notice before. I even came to really enjoy “Beard After Dark” which I wasn’t really sure about after the first time I watched it. Both seasons of this show have been among the best TV I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait for Season 3.

January 19, 20232 yr Beard After Dark was brilliant.Completely agreed, but it was so different than the rest of the shows that I wasn’t quite sure about it the first time I saw it. After I watched it a few more times, I really enjoyed it and it became one of my favorites.

And then you'll wait some more. To quote the god, Roy Kent.... FUCK!
January 19, 20232 yr By spring, do they mean March 1st, the equinox, may 31st, the night before the summer solstice? and yea, upon rewatch…..the moon in the beard episode has a much heavier significance.
January 19, 20232 yr Christmas in July was what made season 2 the personification of an audible groan. That said, I'm hoping that S3 is a bounce back to the greatness that was S1, though I think there was a strategic misstep to not hurry up production and release 4-6 weeks ago when FIFA mania was at a peak. So you let one “bad” episode ruin a season for you? I agree the Christmas episode is probably my least favorite episode, but sexy Christmas and horrible breath were both pretty funny. And some of my favorite episodes are from season two. The Rainbow episode comes to mind. It was fantastic!
January 19, 20232 yr Ever since coach beard met coach beard, both programs hit the shitter and delayed greatness. Just saying
January 27, 20232 yr I've joined the club. Even paid a month of Apple+ just to binge. I thought Nate's "heel turn" made perfect sense, since I saw him as a heel since season 1. Seriously, the guy's a dick. Boss lady is mad fit and would smash. Roy Fucking Kent is legend. Coach Beard is great. In for Season 3.

In for Season 3. most of us called the whole nate plotline. the disconnect was when the actor who played nate felt the need to go on twitter and explain how all the microaggressions against him warranted such a move. turns out nope, he's just a dick.

Dunno if they decided against it in rewrites, wanted to do a fakeout, or just wanted to emphasize how likeably Ted is.
