What a poorly regulated militia we have :(

told the priest
Don't count on any second coming
God got his ass kicked the first time
He came down here slumming.
He had the balls to come
The gall to die and then forgive us
No I don't wonder why I wonder what
He thought it would get us

Did you read the article? In fairness, to you, he has mental issues. He already threatened his family in a prior incident. The prior incident was when he felt people were “out to get him” in 2019. He was not well.

No. Does anyone on Surly?

I have objective standards and expectations for law enforcement. When they get it right, intellectual honesty requires that I acknowledge it.

It sounds like you now walking-back a comment you made on another thread: “Don’t count on any LEO to do the right thing. Ever.”

If so, kudos to you for stepping back from the ledge of extreme hyperbole.

Lol...you haven’t read his posts much. He will walk back from nothing. He will never admit to being incorrect about anything.

He will probably retort that this particular cop has probably been part of the “thin blue line” on many occasions, but in this particular instance did the right thing...and probably only because of the current climate.

This isn't hard.

Don't count on any LEO to do the right thing, ever. The situation itself is dangerous - don't talk to cops, demand your lawyer at all times, etc. Don't ever EXPECT them to do the right thing, because evidence shows that oftentimes they don't, and the outcomes when they don't are NEVER in your favor. The EV is so incredibly negative that you have to start on the far rail.

That said, when they DO the right thing, it's incumbent on us to notice it, to celebrate it, to nourish it in hopes that it propagates. One day, we might be able to change our position on point 1, above.

Don't bother. It's just a pathetic "gotcha" attempt.
