Melissa McCarthy would make a pretty good Del actually, better than Kevin Hart anyway.  She basically played Del Griffith in that buddy road-trip movie with Jason Bateman.

McCarthy/Bullock…. Again.

NO more thread derail!

(also, I don't care what y'all say...The Heat was a funny movie)

The heart of PTA is family, loneliness, and being kind to your fellow man. A family man and a annoying lonely man travel together to get home for thanksgiving. What we don’t know is annoying man doesn’t have a family. That’s the feels.
Will Smith and Kevin Hart will be fine. Will Smith is the Everyman, and Hart is indeed annoying as fuck.

Will it come close to the original? No. Because John Candy is one of a kind. Steve Martin too, but the role of Del want meant for John Candy. The role of man, a decent man, but because he’s a little annoying, a little fat, a little ugly, unkept, cheap, whatever adjective you want to use, is alone without family. I have a hard time feeling sorry for Kevin Hart being alone on Thanksgiving

Im guessing Kevin Hart is the Steve Martin character and Will Smith plays some sort of closet case like Del. Hart did this with The Rock in Central Intelligence.

Surly seems to be fine with unimaginative shitty reboot sequels, so maybe it could just be part 2.

So did this hopefully die with Covid? 🤞

Currently in pre-production with Will Smith and Kevin Hart attached as actors and producers. Aeyasha Carr (Everybody Hates Chris, B99, Woke) listed as writer. Both Smith and Hart have it among a dozen upcoming projects on their IMDB pages so who knows if it ever gets out of development hell.

Here's a scary thought. Drew Barrymore kicked it around as the next flick to do with Sandler with Barrymore in the Candy role. Talk about one of the worst ideas in Hollywood history.

I don’t know.  Barrymore as Delia Griffith, charming and fat wandering widow.  Could be box office gold.

I’d watch that over anything with Kevin Hart and Will Smith.
