November 6, 20241 yr Author Baby Rhino's comin' Sark: "I think Jerrick Gibson showed us a lot last week." Gibson has seen his workload decrease in recent weeks. Following the preseason injuries sustained by running backs CJ Baxter and Christian Clark, Gibson had to step up when Jaydon Blue and Quintrevion Wisner suffered minor injuries early in the season. With transfer Velton Gardner not playing since the UTSA game, there was a stretch of the non-conference schedule during which Gibson was the only truly healthy scholarship running back. The Florida product took advantage against the Roadrunners, leading the team with 13 carries for 75 yards. For the year, Gibson has 48 carries for 227 yards and three touchdowns. But as Blue and Wisner returned to the rotation, the coaching staff opted to reduce Gibson’s carries in an effort to keep him healthy, so he’s only received six carries in SEC play. Against Vanderbilt, Gibson received just one snap, but given the nature of the running back position, Texas may need the 5’10, 205-pounder again down the stretch. We've all wondered why Gibson hasn't been on the field more of late, and I guess this does make a lot of sense. When you only have two RBs, each of which has dealt with injuries this season, you sure as hell better the limit the miles on RB3.
November 7, 20241 yr I want Gibson to get more carries so he's ahead next season and can be counred on. I know this will be divisive, but Blue should come back. He works well with Baxter not having to be "the guy", and Wisner with a hinior year should be much better. It was trial by fire for both, and they just aren't big enough to pass block. Wisner puts his body on the line, but he just can't do much. He and Bolden ain't scared of nothing.
November 15, 20241 yr Author Anyone else hear about this... In a vacuum, no. But things haven't been ideal at the RB position in terms of health and then something beyond being out of sync happened. It looked like Texas was tipping OZ against Georgia, because they were calling it out pre snap and then something similar happened against Vanderbilt. Edited November 15, 20241 yr by LTtxfan
November 15, 20241 yr All I want to say is I'm fucking happy to have baby Rhino back. Seeing him put up 100 against the team he was once commited to had to be satisfying. Let's hope we see more of him against Arky's defense. The only player worth a shit they have is Landon Jackson, who will/should be contained. The rest of the defense is worse than agent orange. November 19, 20241 yr Author Has Sark ever run HBack insert ?? Might help us with a couple interior rushes against an even defensive front...
November 24, 20241 yr Great game running the ball but cmon, Blue, hold on to the football. Can’t remember the last time I saw a player so prone to fumbling.
November 24, 20241 yr We hold on to the ball and I think A&M has no chance. Turn overs will be everything. Shit UGA would have been an entirely different game without the shit turnovers. Hold on to the ball dogs.

November 24, 20241 yr Tashard Choice has got to do better here. They are not holding it high and tight with 5 points. Duct tape the ball to these dudes like Billingsley in Friday Night Lights or something

November 24, 20241 yr Wisner is 374 from 1K. Texas has at least 2 more games, but more likely 3+. Still has a shot.
November 24, 20241 yr We gonna keep that 1k streak rolling this year. Wisner gonna get it, I can feel it in my veins

December 8, 20241 yr Is Gibson on his way out? He should be our inside zone guy. Do the coaches just not trust him? Seems like a wasted freshman year.
December 8, 20241 yr He fumbles too much right now, can't trust him in big games like this yet. See the Kentucky game.
December 8, 20241 yr Texas needs a difference maker at RB. Wisner is a capable back when everything is blocked up but doesn’t make much on his own. He’s a good player but he’s not scaring any defenses out there. Losing Baxter was a mfer this year. Definitely gonna need to hit the portal for a RB in my opinion.

Call me old school, but I want a bruising full back for red zone play and short yardage situations. Not talking about a repurposed defensive lineman, but a special purpose wrecking ball of a human.

December 22, 20241 yr Was it this thread or another where someone caught shit for calling Blue a homerun threat?

December 22, 20241 yr Wisner 27 yards from 1K, and even Blue has an outside shot at joining him if he plays like he did today for 3 more games.

December 22, 20241 yr I still get nervous every time Blue totes the rock. Also Wisner seems to use the blocks and patience better. But wow Blue just has another gear we haven't seen in a while at RB.

December 23, 20241 yr Huge plays by Jaydon Blue. I've been critical of him, but he stepped up big time. Hook'em!.

OTF guys were saying it was Gibson not knowing the offense more than the fumbles that was keeping him off the field.
