Not really fair to others. His stats were great because he played for 6 or 7 years.

Pulled hamstring?

'Member Jordan Shipley?

Fuck man. All those guys deserved a title.

This is no lie.  They got screwed out of a shot in 08 and in 09.  Those are my second favorite consecutive years only to 04-05 of course.  If only they had won a title they may be my first since they beat ou both years.  I don't remember what that kind of excitement for football is anymore.

Yes, despite our well-deserved whines about GDGD, Mack usually stumbled upon good DCs then, and that combined with good recruiting and his in game management, the games were a blast. The special team blocks and last second FGs were almost expected, just as frustratingly his "withstanding the surge" against OU, which only made the surge worse.

I'm not quite sure if y'all know this, but he was Colt McCoy's roommate.  And what's really weird, their FATHERS were roommates too!

I’d go with Roy, but I wouldn’t argue much.

Nah it’s because he was 25 when he left.

Best receiver in school history imo.

Roy has him beat on career rec TDs and career receiving yds. In fact Roy has almost 700 more career receiving yards despite 7 fewer career receptions. Dude was something else. But Ship was great in his own right, especially in 2009. He could get open even though everyone in the building knew Colt was only looking to throw to him. He was unreal.

It was an underrated part of his game, but he had this amazing knack for creating space while tangled with a defender without pushing off . Still remember he scored a TD against A&M in 2009 doing exactly that. Haven’t seen too many guys as good at that as he was.

He had great footwork.

Nope. Roy, Jordan, Adams, Quan, Dev are Top 5.

Is anyone driving the boat?

Mike Davis in the top 5 on that list is incredible when you consider what he was working with.

Texas didn't pass the ball until the 90s so all the WR stats are gonna be lacking

Roy Williams was supremely talented, Shipley was a better WR and not just because he showed up for big games.

I think in terms of career accomplishments at UT you have it right. In terms of who was straight up the best wide receiver we've seen suit up in the burnt orange I have a hard time not putting Duv at least 2nd to Roy.

Why drive the boat when you can sail one to the ship?

Outside of (for obvious reasons) the Rose Bowl, the 2008 OU game is my favorite in over 35 years of attending UT games. The Shipley kick return gave us new life when it looked like it was gonna be a long afternoon. Outside of maybe Stonie Clark’s stop in 1994 the catch and run Ship had in the 4th quarter of that game is the loudest I’ve heard the Cotton Bowl (have attended every OU game since 1984)....

Dicker's kick has to be up there

To me it’s more than the stats. Big time moments Jordan stepped up.

Obviously the Ghost had some injury issues, but technically speaking...he was on the active/inactive roster of 4 Longhorn BCS teams.  Nobody else will ever be able to say that.

He was on the official roster for 2004 Michigan Rose Bowl, 2005 USC Rose Bowl, 2008 Ohio State Fiesta Bowl, and 2009 Alabama Rose Bowl.  Yes, I know he only saw action in 2 of those games...but he was a Longhorn player for all four.

Anyway, well deserved honor for him to join the ranks of the UT Hall of Honor.

Given the circumstances, no.  4th and 5; Billy Pittman TD / Bomar’d Rod Wright TD (entire ‘05 OU game); Limas catch in Columbus; Shipley return TD and Shipley TD on Quan block (entire ‘08 OU game); Mangum’s kick / entire ‘04/‘05 Rose Bowl - all better. Dicker’s kick in and of itself doesn’t belong. The entire ‘18 OU game belongs on a top 10 list and so does Georgia, but we are talking about a 10-4 team that lost to Maryland.

Was referring to "loudest I've heard the Cotton Bowl"

Not "greatest Texas football moments ever"

Look, having "eternal" scoreboard over aggy means a lot.  Could you imagine having to live with that shot for the rest of your life having to hear about a "L" from an aggy?

Nothing was quieter than Pyle Field after Tucker's kick.

Eternal scoreboard means a lot.  All you have to do to shut an aggy up is to say 27-25.  Nobody knows what the overall record is without looking it up.  Everyone knows who won that last game.

You just ask the greatest college football fans in the world how to get back to your car.

Plenty of people know the W-L record on both sides. That moment is one we overrate. It would have meant a lot more if we were playing for something but like a lot of Aggie games, we were playing little bro with no stakes. OU has always been a much better game and rivalry and back in the old school SWC day Arky was a more worthy rival.

Not even close. It doesn't seem like a big deal because we won and we don't care that much.

But if they had won they would absolutely never shut up about it. Ever. It was a big deal not because we beat them like we usually did, but because they didn't win the last game.

Edited by Huckleberry

Eternal scoreboard is a big deal and it eats them up inside. Cause whenever you bring up the overall record they always have the same excuses about all male school/military blah blah blah. When you say 27-25 they literally stfu or just y’all about how much money they make in the sec/sec talk.
