Long way to go in this one and defense still gives me the shakes at times but I do see glimpses of the entire squad buying in and executing what appears to be a pretty sensible plan.

Ozil to Fenerbache. first on loan for six months, then on a permanent 3.5 year deal.

About time, I frankly have trouble even remembering when he was a regular part of the side.

for real. the beginning of his career here was pretty magical, but even with as much as i love him it's *been* beyond time to move on. i just hope that he's still in good enough form in 4 years to come join Austin FC and dominate the MLS.

Smith-Rowe has something. This kid has a future.

Fuck yeah! Let’s keep it going strong! Glad Auba got the monkey off his back.

Definitely; hopefully this opens the goalscoring floodgates for Auba.

Gabriel and Partey on the bench, no Martinelli.  Tierney being held out with a slight pull.

Poor effort today.  Palace spent most of the second half parking the bus and looking for the occasional counter and we had nothing to crack it.  Got to be better.

i think we are better with some combination of Holding/Mari/Gabriel than we are with Luiz involved. the switch to a 433 has been a good one that has seen us look much better in attack, but when we have both Luiz and Xhaka on the pitch together (and sadly we usually do need Xhaka in the starting XI) then that's two players who are, to borrow a phrase from basketball, "ball stoppers". we're at our best when everything is quick one-two's and when employ players who can routinely beat their man, eg Tierney and Saka.  i'd really like to see Holding and Gabriel form a partnership with Mari right there in the mix as a sub and for rotation purposes. i think that will just help our play be more positive and not stall out so much.

Sounds like a good chance Tierney is back for Newcastle on Sunday.   Mari will miss at least 2 more matches.

Sideshow Bob in the XI always makes me nervous.  Nevertheless...GOYG!!! Really need three points tonight.

Does Auba have the yips? Is that a thing in soccer?

Probably and yea

Yes.  He would have converted those last season.

Shooters shoot.  Nice goal, Auba! COYG!!!!

great to see Auba bagging a brace. awesome job by Cedric to set up the second goal. the second half was the best half we've played in a hot minute. 3 points is always good, and with Partey, Gabriel, and Martinelli all returning the team, i'm hopeful that we have more good times going forward. COYG. 🔴

woeful. i never want to see Willian play football again. and unless we're on the verge of signing Giroud, Andy Carroll, and Mandzukic, then might k suggest we try something different than swinging the ball around the horn and then crossing it into the box 100x a game.

Yep. Perhaps letting Kia Joorabchian dictate our transfer policy was a bad idea. Not to mention Pepe isn’t making his record transfer look like good business either.
