What kind of food you looking for?  And...do you want her to like SMU or do you want her to not like SMU?

Also, are you looking for fancy or casual?  Douchey or down to earth?  There are lots of douchey places in Uptown, for sure.

This is true.  Ain’t near what it used to be.

You could check out Whole Foods. Or scare her with the after work douche crowd at moxies.

Still need to know whether OP wants her to go to SMU or doesn’t.  Some of the recs here would likely dissuade her more than persuade her.  Don’t get me wrong, most are great for various reasons, but if I’m trying to persuade a high school senior girl, several don’t fit that mold.

The Loon is always the right answer.

I've got some bad news for you...

You could always go to the Hard Rock Cafe or Sfuzzi....

Yeah...and for a special treat, take her to Il Mulino.  Wear something nice and prepare your wallet.

Uh, The Loon is open and thriving just around the corner from the original location.

Haha missed the loon part.  Makes a little more sense now.  Still struggling with new site format.  Change is hard.

If you’re trying to get a feel for dallas I would explore more than uptown. Most SMU kids don’t even come down here anymore.

Dallas Farmers Market

Deep Ellum

lower greenville/SMU Boulevard

walk through campus and head over to snider Plaza (Kuby’s, Diggs Taco, Bandito’s)

Bishop Arts

White rock lake

New place just opened last week called Doc B's. It's across from perry's. Had Lunch on the first day open and was pretty tasty.. about normal prices for uptown.

OP didn't really follow through on this thread.

Don't sleep on Knox/Henderson area.  Place is crawling with SMU hotties...I mean ass...I mean girls...I mean students.

Not really uptown but don’t feel like making a new thread. Familia is coming up for a ceremony at UTSW. Doesn’t get out until 9ish. Any good places open for dinner close by? Nothing crazy nice but you know, decent.

Ferris Wheelers (BBQ), Rodeo Goat (burgers) on the cheap/casual side, Meddlesome Moth (a little higher-end gastro-pub fare), Social Pie or Pie Tap (pizza places), El Bolero (pretty good little interior Mexican), Avila's or Herrera's (Tex-Mex) and Sprezza (higher-end Italian) are within spitting distance. The Mockingbird is Jack Perkins' new elevated comfort diner. Very good. It's right across from the entrance to Love Field.

All great recs but dude, you missed the best one by far.  The Charles.  Best new restaurant in Dallas in a while.  It’s across the street from Pie Tap and El Bolero.  Not sure if I know exactly what “nothing crazy but you know decent” means but this place is really really good italian, not pretentious at all...and not cheap but certainly not expensive.  Food and experience way better than decent.  Price way better than crazy.

Ha! Haven't been there yet though I saw you raving about it on the Eye-talian thread. Didn't know exactly where it was either.

Nice yea Pizza Tap and The Charles are both looking like great options. Been to Rodeo Goat too many times the last couple months. Thanks guys

I hear that this is the last night for the current incarnation of The Loon.  Moving down McKinney near Breadwinners at Hall Street.  Wasn't a fan of new location.  I hope that they get their mojo back!

I recommend all y'all get yourselves over to the Katy Trail sometime this week. Good lawd the talent out there today.

faint fainting GIF

What a shitty day for uptown. 30th anniversary would have been this year.
