First of all, the line may have already been discussed in another thread, but I am so glad I can be making this thread after these shitty last 6 months.

Secondly, 42 POINTS?!?

We’ll get to see what UTEP has to offer Saturday, when Stephen F Austin travels to El Paso Saturday night for a game. 8 pm ESPN 3

I want us to cover that spread by 2 touchdowns.   I think it was the 2018 Tulsa game when herman said at halftime interview to the effect "game almost got out of hand".  My head almost exploded.

We won 28-21.  He needs to let his team mud-hole every opportunity.

I am really hoping that SFA doesn't infect UTEP with CV19 causing UT's game with UTEP to be canceled. I am ready to watch some Longhorn football.

Never underestimate Turtle Tom to rear his head in these games.

Whoever is back up QB better play the entire 4th, and hopefully half the 3rd.  In fact if Sam doesn't play one series in the 3rd then sit I'll be pissed. All I'm saying.

How long has it been since we truly mudholed anyone? Seriously cant remember, but it seemed to happen at least a couple times a season in Macks early years.

Looks to me like when we played UTEP in 2009; 64-7, game was 45-7 at halftime. Hot as fucking hell that day. I guess you could say San Jose State in Herman’s first year, but that game was only 21-0 at half...

Beat New Mexico State 56-7 in 2013, but I remember it was New Mexico State 7-0 much of the first half and everyone wanted everyone fired.

The LHN should every once in a while show games like the ones listed above, that I have no memory of. Instead of showing 2008 Texas/OU or 1998 aggy for the billionth time.

Do they ever show good games the longhorns lose?  Curious.

The Largest Margin of Victory over the last 10 seasons:

1. 2017 vs. San Jose State - 56 points (56-0)

2. 2013 vs. New Mexico State - 49 points (56-7)

3. 2012 vs. New Mexico - 45 points (45-0)

4. 2011 vs. Kansas - 43 points (43-0)

5. 2015 vs. Kansas - 39 points (59-20)

T6. 2012 at Ole Miss - 35 points (66-31)

T6.  2019 at Rice - 35 points (48-13)

T8. 2010 vs. Florida Atlantic - 34 points (41-7)

T8. 2016 vs. UTEP - 34 points (41-7)

10. 2011 vs. Texas Tech - 32 points (52-20)

Of the 71 wins the past 10 seasons, 27 or 38% were by less than 10 points.

I wouldn't characterize any game Texas loses as "good".

#30

Too low for me to be happy with the outcome.  Anything less than a shutout and win by 50 will be a disappointment. /pre-season expectations

Oh, yes, please show me the 2008 TTech game.

Haha good point.  I guess they're not desperate enough to want to pull in some of the tech/ou/ or Aggy fans.

Right I mean Texas will very likely cover the spread but it won't really mean shit as far as how good they are, just how bad the Miners are.

Hell I'd be offended even if they showed ties.

#37

well they did get beat by 35 points @ Tech last year but that was with Bowman playing I believe

still with new coordinators on both sides for Texas who knows and I do not see Tom running it up....but then again it is the lone pre-season game so players might get reps

#40
We're going to beat them by like 70.
It would be fun to see the win/lose noncon spreads for herman. I bet it is a losing record.

Just saw this game is on LHN...phuck....haven’t had to worry about LHN since I had season Tix...passed on them this year.  I’m a cord cutter, so how in the world do we watch this game...can’t go to a damn bar.

Stanco strikes again! Herman’s 5-4 against the spread noncon at Texas. 8-4 if you include bowl games.

This is exactly what comes from confirmation bias.  The losses (vs the spread) are memorable, because they fit the narrative.  The wins don't register as much because they do not.  As a result there is conviction that it's a shitty record vs the spread while the reality is otherwise.

#50

Like somebody said earlier, "U Take-Em Points." Clearly, we can cover; Herman just won't. He'll lay it off on, "Well, we have to get the younger guys some PT. With this covid thing, you never know when you'll have to play 'em." Then, if pressed, he'll have more explanatory coach-speak. But the truth is, running it up's just not in his DNA.
