It was worth watching just to see Heather Thomas come through those swinging doors in the blue bikini. It's also is a reminder of how terrific some of the action sequences in movies were before everything went CGI. It's two-fold. First, those stunts were dangerous, and when you watch stuff like the guy hanging onto the helicopter, you know it's real. A guy really had to get on a helicopter and hang onto the runner. Saw a sequence recently where they showed before and after on a CGI scene with Supergirl and the Flash. in the CGI scene, Supergirl flies out of the scene like a bolt of lightning, while the Flash uses his arms to create a wind storm. In the before CGI sequence, Supergirl jumps about a foot off the ground while the Flash waves his arms around. You know nothing is at risk in these CGI sequences. The second thing is that it's a different kind of actor and special effects person doing the scenes. The old guys like Hal Needham were a little bit outlaw and also incredible risk takers. The new people are mostly in front of green screens on a set and the special effects people sit in front of computers for hours. It doesn't seem like they have an understanding of anything outside of the studio. Edited November 30, 20223 yr by Richard Kimball typo
November 30, 20223 yr Dynasty. Every band nerd kid that played trumpet in the 1980s/early 90s wanted to learn it and saw it as justification for learning the trumpet while their cooler friends were learning percussion or guitar.
November 30, 20223 yr Great themes above, no doubt, Peter Gunn so cool, but this old geezer is partial to the late 1950’s WB Westerns, in no particular order: Maverick Cheyenne the Rifleman Bronco Lane Sugarfoot Bat Masterson the RebelYou left out a few…Have Gun Will TravelBrandedA bit later, BonanzaRiders in the Sky did a great parody of Have Gun Will Travel called Pallindrome. Brilliance as almost every line is a pallindrome fit into a little western scene.

January 30Jan 30 Author This one is so underrated. There is no way this music should be opening a Karl Malden cop show. But it works because, San Francisco in the 70's.

And that donkey he shoots on the bridge? Real. Movies today even the muscles are fake. The Fall Guy made me a Chevy man for life. Try those jumps in a Ferd lol.
January 30Jan 30 Also: Captured the tone of the show perfectly: Closing credits, borrowed from the movie so what:
January 30Jan 30 Because it appears that we've succeeded in listing nearly every show to ever appear on TV, I'll add two by two of my all-time favorite bands: Edited January 30Jan 30 by Beau Vine

What a wonderful song for everyone. The one he sings that gets my eyes a little teary is "It's You I Like..." So many children need to feel this type of caring.

It was cool how they used Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #2 as a contact theme for the aliens after they copied it from the voyager gold record. Bach melodies often appear in the episode scores. I can remember the Fugue in G minor (The little fugue) BWV 578 being featered and not to be confused with the other popular g minor fugue BWV 1000 made popular by Andres Segovia in his landmark transcription.

February 11Feb 11 About to start watching this little series again, and holy shit Bear McCreary....without his music, I'm not sure it's half as good as it was.
February 11Feb 11 I mean, it's Rockford files 1a and Dallas 1b, but a lot of these are a really good suggestion for number 2.
February 11Feb 11 I recorded the A Team theme off of TV so I could play it while kicking ass with my GI Joes.

February 12Feb 12 Somehow, I missed this thread previously or skimmed over it, but I just spent some time going through this thread reminiscing old shows. One that immediately popped up in my head but hasn't been mentioned is the Twin Peaks theme. Yeah, it's not a rocking anthem or a hummable earworm, but it embodied the iconic and mysterious nature of the show pretty damn well. It's certainly memorable.
February 12Feb 12 Since this thread has inevitably devolved from "greatest tv theme songs" to "tv theme songs that make me nostalgic" I'll go ahead and throw this one out there-- it had me glued to the TV after school, I think it probably aired on one of the "new cable stations" either USA or WTBS. I watched it at a friend's house because at the time they had cable and we didn't. Theme song takes me way back.

February 15Feb 15 Imma guess this prolly the most played theme song in all of theme songs. if you’re between the age of, idk, 30-40 you prolly know every word

The Watchtower thing is a Ronald D. Moore thing - he’s used the lines in a couple of shows. In Star Trek: TNG, he had I think it was Picard, saying “we have to find some way out of here".

There is a statue of Mr. Rogers outside of the Steelers/Pitt stadium, inside an altered old bridge pier. It’s pretty cool. On game days you always see people, and not just kids, getting their picture taken with the statue.
