Shoots 62

Shoots 62, and opened that round with a bogey. Jordan doing Jordan things

Ghim went out early and shot a 63.   Corey Conners just made the turn with a 29 on his first nine.

Everyone going low so of course Jordan bogeys 2 of first 3.

Cam Smith needs birdie on 18 for 59.

Missed a 12 footer. 60.

72,62,72 Jordan things for sure

Forgive me I'm rusty on my FedEx Cup rules -- can Jordan play poorly enough to not qualify for next week?

Not a chance. But this won't help him make the final cut. He came into today 2nd in the FedEx.

That's what I thought. He's sort of calmed down since my last post. *Should* break 80.

And he will leave today in the top 10, he is playing in Atlanta; there is no way he drops to 31st in one week.
And the BMW and Tour Championship are no-cut rich-get-richer events, so he could limp his way to a big payoff (maybe he bet against himself this week on FanDuel (as a hedge).

Not sure about that. I feel like 75th next week might get him there. The points go up pretty exponentially week to week.

It’ll be hard to finish 75th with 70 players in the field.

The playoff points are skewed towards the top, going into this week :
Morikawa had 2,171 points & he missed the cut
Jordan had 2,139
Si Woo Kim (#30) had 1,187
JT Poston (#70) had 697

Winner this week gets 2,000, 10th place gets 300, 20th place gets 180... (next weeks points are the same as this week)
Same next week

Long story short - both Morikawa and Jordan are playing in Atlanta

The leaderboard projection is that 3 or 4 players outside the top 60 will move up and play next week (and only 2 players move out of the top 30 - Si Woo Kim and Kisner both MC'd)

Good stuff. I know that guys can move up in a hurry - wasn't thinking about the flipside. It's hard to move down that many spots.

That said - every spot counts quite a bit in Atlanta. The difference between 2nd and 10th going into that week is quite a few strokes.

The whole thing still seems silly but whatever.

I see Finau has jumped up to T1 - anyone think he will close this out and get his first win?

Rahm is doing his best job to help him.

Cam Smith ties Finau at -20.  Finau in trouble on 18.  Smith about to tee off on 18.  Rahm one back at -19.

It would be the most Finau thing ever for Cam to make this 24 footer.

This could get called for darkness if they tie a couple holes... when's the last time a tournament finished on a Tuesday?

Second. Puerto Rico, if you count that.

Welp. Guess we don't have to worry about sunlight.

Damn that looked like me teeing off.  Except about 100 yards longer and not as far right.

Congrats Tony?

Finau deserved a break for once.

Glad to see he won, he's been so close so many times? How many top 10s? Well deserved.

Number I saw was 39 top 10s since his last win.

Congrats to Finau for closing it out and getting his 2nd career PGA win.

And just to circle back to the FedEx cup points discussion;

Morikawa dropped from 1st to 6th, missing the cut
Jordan dropped from 2nd to 7th, finishing 73rd

and 7 guys moved into the top 60 (Noren (T4), van Rooyen (7), Hoge (T4) , Varner (T11), Streb (T16), Wise (T21), Munoz(T21) ) displacing Jhonny 49 (MC), Charl 50 (MC) , Streelman 53 (T64), Kizzire 57 (T56) , Ryan Palmer 55 (MC) ,  Phil 58 (MC) & Wolff 59 (MC)
Not making it into next week, but close were Mitchell T8 (63), HIggs T16 (69) and Pat Perez T16 (80)

So it is safe to say that Jordan is going to Atlanta, since this week is no cut and he has a 900 point cushion over 30th, and only the top 2 spots get more than 900 points.

I f'd that up - thinking this week was 60, but it is 70 - so the details are incorrect, but it is 5 who moved up to the top 70 and 5 who are not playing this week who were in the top 70 last week (Wolff, Fitzpatrick, Hatten, Laird Merritt).

Other than Wolff all those guys I named are actually in this week, and Higgs is in along with Mitchell.

I lose 10 internet points for being an idiot moron dipshit

Put $10MM on the line and watch Rory go!

Bryson is 5 under through 5 right now and tied for the lead.

-7 through 8 now.  guess he's feeling good that the feud is on hold.

or 1 of the last 2 (nice eagle on 16)

and Cantlay has a shot at 59 also (likely needs to eagle 16) at -9 through 15

about as easy of putt as you could hope for for 59.

Yeah. Eagle and a birdie works too.

What a fucking round.

never gave it a chance.

Disappointing. He'll have to settle for a 12 under 60.

would have been first 59 on course over 7,400 yds.

jinxing bunch of jinxers - BDC goes par/par to shoot 60, Cantlay goes birdie bogey to stay at -9 heading into 18
