Largely unimportant bye week talk: I miss our old helmets

Featured Replies

Can't believe nobody's called for orange pants yet.  OG posters from the old board before the old board are slacking.

Isn't the "issue" with the helmets more with the new safety design features, vs. the "clean" profile?  The first design difference I recall was when they started having that "teardrop" hole behind the rear longhorn horn.

Yeah I kept thinking all these players had their longhorns deformed in a similar way from helmet-to-something contact.

The all orange is a bit much.

If they go a shade darker on the burnt orange and keep the helmet white, orange pants for one game might look pretty badass..

It's both.  I get the safety feature designs for the new helmets but they still look like crap with all the cutouts / holes.

Young's helmet.   Perfect, in all facets.

Agree with OP. The darker logo had a rustic look that was unique to Texas. Now we have the same bright orange as everyone else.

The helmet/jersey combo on Ced looks 1,000 times better than the one on Sam and It’s not even close....

This

Our colors are burnt orange and white, not road cone orange and white.

IMO it’s for TV. I liked the dark, leathery color against the all whites. That was some cold ass looking shit.

this shit looks like a Cheetos wrapper.

Probably. Even Ferrari changed their racing colors for TV, and for Marlboro. The original color was fucking badass. The tv color sucks ass.

100% agree re: the look of the old burnt orange on white. It meant binness.
