I think part of the justificatiom is completion %, which is hilarious because as you said, taking a million idiotic sacks instead of throwing the ball away contributed heavily to that.

April 15Apr 15 Apparently low bar for getting your number retired. More surprising was learning about players at Colorado who don’t have their number retired.

Darian Hagan Kordell Stewart Deon Figures Travis Hunter That list makes sense. You could even put Andre Gurode there. "But my daddy said ... ." The deion leg humpers will continue to act like nothing had ever happened at that program prior to the arrival of these vainglorious assholes.
April 16Apr 16 Lol, this thread always delivers. The Deion haters will jump at any excuse to take shots at him. Yea I don’t have a problem with this. Travis? Hell yes. Build that statue on the home side main entrance. Deion jr? Why not. He’s the reason they won more than 6 games in the last 20 years and put them on the map. He was a badass qb with a shit team and got 10 wins.

April 16Apr 16 No way Sanders with the retired jersey. TH I understand as he at least won the Heisman as an “electric two-way player” on a mediocre team. Sanders got them to the Alamo Bowl his last season, which BYU frankly exposed the Buffs back to mediocrity.Hook’em!!!
April 16Apr 16 Cordell Stewart with his magical seasons at CU doesn’t have his # retired, but they’re going to do S Sanders as he helped put butts in the seats the last two seasons? OKHook’em!!!
April 16Apr 16 Lol what hilarious helicopter dad bullshit when Kordell fucking Stewart and most of your actual national championship stars don't have their numbers retired. Hiding it in Hunter's ceremony shows that he knows it's ridiculous.

How about a Charlie Weis sized contract extension, with the same no-offsets. 5 hours ago, msucolt45 said: Cordell Stewart with his magical seasons at CU doesn’t have his # retired, but they’re going to do S Sanders as he helped put butts in the seats the last two seasons? April 16Apr 16 Folsom Field should be renamed Sanders Field. Because why not.No, Prime Field.Or let coach prime come up with a catchy name for it… Prime Palace or some other retarded shit

Maybe he forgot who he was and that he wore the same jersey as him and he was also a Thorpe winner and also that his name is Deon and that he sealed a national title with an interception at the end of the game and that he's in the college football hall of fame and that he played for the same team he currently coaches. Probably just slipped through the cracks.

OK Hook’em!!! Reminds me of a funny Kordell Stewart story. Years ago, we went to a family party in Western Pennsylvania. We came from NYC and a young couple come from CA. The CA couple was the sweetest, nicest young LA couple you could ever expect to meet. I asked the old, huge, Pennsylvanian, angry, former-college-football-lineman/uncle-from-wife's-side what he thought of Kordell Stewart. (At the time, there were rumors amongst Steelers fans about Stewart's alt personal life, plus they hated his play.) Without a pause, he booms out at the top of his very-large lungs, "That n****r is a faggot!!!" Growing up in Texas in the 70's I wasn't surprised at all at his comments, but the poor little blonde couple from LA were unfortunately standing next to him. I'll never forget the frozen look of horror and giant eyes on their poor faces. You could tell they had literally never heard those word uttered, much less proudly announced at ear-splitting level. It was their 'Welcome to the rest of America' moment.
April 16Apr 16 I look forward to seeing how many knots Joel Klatt twists himself into explaining this one away.

I think doing Shedeur's number is dumb (especially since he's not the best #2 I've seen at CU) but it doesn't really move the needle for me.

April 16Apr 16 I like Deion but the Shedeur thing is dumb and just fuels the hate. Hunter sure although a statue for a Heisman is more traditional.

But they also established objective criteria for it to limit it to a very few numbers: you have to win a national player of the year award. So we probably won't have to worry about Brady Sarkisian having his number retired.
April 16Apr 16 I've defended him here plenty, mostly cause I admire the way he markets himself. However his stupid father antics are just embarrassing at this point.

You like the way he markets himself? Like that time he spackled his own o line with angry diarrhea after the Nebraska game? Or is it his whole shithead vibe that is now more of a deduction to his value than his actual ability? You admire the Veruca Salt public perception strategy?

Or is it his whole shithead vibe that is now more of a deduction to his value than his actual ability? You admire the Veruca Salt public perception strategy? Both things can be true. Prime can be a total blowhard fraud and his marketing efforts can be really good. In that regard, he is very similar to Billy McFarland and Fyre Fest. Great marketing for a fraud product. As someone who works in marketing, I admire many of the things he has done. The way he promoted his program wasn't done for you or me. It was done to resonate with today's players and it was successful. The videos they produced were the best I've ever seen. Compare that to Turtle Tom's horrible promotional efforts or even better, Jimbo's horrendous exertions. (But I won't say anything else bad about Jimbo. I miss him and weep every day since his departure.)
April 17Apr 17 None of it does. But each time deion does something ridiculous you come to this thread and hold a bag of ice to your nuts. Lulz. I love having Deion. I hope he stays for a long time.

April 17Apr 17 I know Colorado has been down but for gods sake have some program pride and demand standards before retiring numbers. Did jackson st retire their numbers. If they haven’t….let that sink in.
