Refs got it right adding a second to the BYU-ASU game for a last Hail Mary after the fans stormed the field. ASU coach looked dumb as fuck arguing otherwise. Was probably just embarrassed that his stupid ass clock strategy didn’t end the game. Just ice it with a score and if you fail it’s a 90+ yard Hail Mary.

The Shadeur vs Mar thing is interesting. I guess it just goes to show that Mar is just their hired bitch boy gun who doesn't really mean anything to them.

Shedeur was probably still beyond pissed that the KU player wasnt penalized, let alone ejected after he flew at Shedeur's knees in the 2nd quarter after a pass and upended.

At minimum that should have been roughing the passer and honestly it was so late after the throw and so precise it should have also been an ejection.   It is a near miracle that Shedeur didnt lose both his knees on that play. if his feet were planted, they would have been.

Yeah no flag in that is complete horseshit. Shedeur probably wasn’t flagged because the ref was trying to separate the players and didn’t know if he was shoved directly or if he was just in the way of the shoving match between players.

That was my guess to begin with, but the footage was available and surely was seen by the league office.  Again, action should have been taken against multiple players by the Rig12 after the fact.  Had that been Kansas' QB, Mar would have ejected him on the spot after a booth review.

I remember something about this, but in this gif it just looks like a cut block.

Ollie Gordon threw a whole ass punch right in front of the ref, got flagged for it and didn't get ejected. Game was probably over at that point so it didn't matter, but just more Big 12 refs failing to do their jobs.

Play was over.  It was just a straight up cheap shot.

It might have actually been called a penalty now that I dig back on it.  I was drunk as hell and blind mad at everything in black and white that night.  It was the same game where we forced and recovered a fumble the play before your go ahead TD and it was ruled down by contact.

We also let Case McCoy complete an end of the first half Hail Mary, so fuck us too.

This is what I remember, but 2 is still blocking in the clip and both look to just be engaging the dbs, so nothing inherently late. All 22 must show a different perspective.

It wasn't late.  the play was well away from the block by our WR.  I considered it a cheap shot at the time.  It may have been flagged but I can't remember.

On the Kansas hit.  Sanders is outside the pocket, has the ball, could easily be perceived as running vs passing.   the defender doesn't know.  while it can hurt Sanders it is within the rules as far as I know.

they could call the defender for targeting/spearing if he hits him with the crown of his helmet.

If they want to prevent they can just create a rule that QB can not be hit knee or below, shoulder up behind the line of scrimmage, regardless of location.

WR get hit like this all the time on screens.

It was a cheap shot and it was flagged (personal foul). Longhorn internet was rightfully pissed along with everyone else at Mike Davis for it and he issued a public apology after being publicly reprimanded by the Big 12. Because, again, the Big 12 always had to make a big show of not being easy on Texas. I look forward to the public reprimand for the Kansas player's cheap shot as well as Shedeur Sanders shoving a ref.

Oh no, wait, they just said CU will handle Sanders internally and haven't said shit about the cheap shot.

That’s the 2013 game?

Tying together all today’s threads…

Three games earlier, Texas was embarrassed by Taysom Hill and Manny Diaz was fired. Mack was told the boosters were pissed and done with him. He said, “You won’t have to fire me. I’ll do the right thing and quit if I am done here.”

The next week, Texas lost at home To Ole Miss by three TDs. The next week, Texas beat KSU. While everyone was speculating about who the next coach would be, Mack amended his stance to “If we don’t win the conference, I’ll move along”.

That damned ISU game could have put Texas at 2-3, if the refs had ruled that a fumble and TD return. Even with fucking Stoops starting Blake Bell at QB, gifting a RRS win, we could have avoided the late season nonsense of Mack “saving his job” (his claim at season end was that by playing for the conference in the final game against Baylor, he had saved his job), and gotten on with the search earlier.

Yes.

If I had been standing next to the refs that ruled that fumble (and subsequent return) down by contact that night, I probably wouldn't be in a place where I'm allowed to post on message boards.

I can't imagine being that mad about a game nowadays, but I guess that's aging.

Motherfucking this.  The victim complex that the rest of the big 12 had for years against Texas is just absurd.  I'm sure we got our share of calls when Mack was there, but UT routinely was (at best) neutral and often way over penalized.  The Charlie Strong/Oklahoma State game was the single most corrupt piece of officiating I've ever witnessed - it wasn't just one call, it was one right after the other.  The one who really got away with it was Oklahoma, who never had a hold called on them in 20 years.

Shedeur was probably still beyond pissed that the KU player wasnt penalized, let alone ejected after he flew at Shedeur's knees in the 2nd quarter after a pass and upended.

That was crazy that they didn’t throw a flag. I don’t know what you could have ejected him for.

Pretty sure the ref that was looking at him could have thrown a flag.

Y'all are missing an absolute masterclass from the B12 refs in this Baylor/SMU game.

I mean just vintage shit out here.

One of them sacked Kevin Jennings earlier.

Edited by ztejas

I'm actually crying laughing right now.

They call SMU for running into the Baylor player trying to receive the punt. As it happened live Baylor touched the ball and SMU recovered.

On further review, they flag Baylor for blocking SMU into the receiver (which is a terrible call, bias aside).

They spot Baylor the ball for some reason.

They review the play again and determine that Baylor DID touch the football.

They then spot SMU the football.

Holy fuck I don't miss this clownshow.

I bet. it took 45 minutes to sort it all out.

I often wonder who the ref crew was in this game and if they're still working. This is still [in my mind] the most egregious call and subsequent replay review in CFB history. It's funny because it happened to OU, but still absolutely unbelievable that it went down this way.

Edited by Brian Fantana

Lol man every time I watch that my jaw is basically on the floor. It's wild.

  • Ball doesn't even go 10 yards
  • Very obviously touched by Oregon player first
  • Oklahoma player recovers the ball and walks away while everyone else is piled up
  • Officials rule Oregon ball even though no one in the pile actually has the ball
  • Replay inexplicably holds everything up even though it's all clear as day on the screen, even in this shitty quality video you can see it all

I would call this cheating 100 times out of 100.

Still funny that it happened to Bob Stoops.

Yeah it was a raw deal for the sooners but it didn't even come close to making up for decades of uncalled holding so fuck 'em.

How the hell did we ever watch standard definition football?  Jesus.
