Players care about winning, because winning is how you get to the league.  Winning players care about playing with other winning players.  Do you know why Nick Saban gets players into the league?  Because they win.  Winning begets winning... (until the coaches get lazy and start claiming they're killing themselves...)  Why does Georgia not win shit? Because they have to play Alabama.... but Georgia wins a lot of games, and has a shot at titles.

Pretty much this. Saban/Alabama absolutely hammer into their players a culture that winning is the most important thing.

Case in point, Jaylen Waddle. A guy who some labeled with "character concerns" because he was on the take in his recruitment. Would be easy to assume he was only looking out for himself and his eventual NFL opportunity. When he got hurt last season it would have been reasonable to just shut it down, take his time with rehab and get ready for the draft. He didn't have to play another college snap as far as his draft position was concerned.

That's not what he did though. He rushed to get back on the field and played in the title game even though he clearly wasn't healthy. He risked hurting his draft stock because the gave a shit about being on the field and winning a National Title.

I was just trying to be funny. You're probably right on Ingram. He had tons of potential and we wasted it.

Thought so too. He has good vision and ability to wait on blocks and find seams...and he put on too much weight and lost his burst.

It's a chicken and egg thing. You build that culture and then you get the wins and then you get the players who want the exposure.

Alabama 53
Ohio State 47
LSU 46
Georgia 35
Notre Dame 34
Clemson 33
Iowa 33

I’ll have to admit that Iowa surprises me. I mean, how many gotdam TEs can one school send to the NFL each year?

The Bear was on point: "Winning ain't everything, but it's way the hell ahead of whatever's in second place."

Note:  I think he looked skinnier than 205# as a Freshman…and heavier than 222# as a Junior. It looked more like a 30# difference to me.

Agree with this.  He ballooned up and official weights seem to help a skinny kid or a bulky kid.  Hell, wasn't Major listed at 207 or some shit?
