April 21, 20187 yr Author Good win but definitely got a big break on the second out in the 9th. That ball was foul and it never hit him. Hook’em Horns.
April 21, 20187 yr That has to be demoralizing for UNO. They gave Texas their best punch in these games and lost both. I won't be surprised if Sunday is ugly. We really need to sweep so maybe we can keep our shit together.

April 21, 20187 yr Zubia interview talks about seeing the ball better at the release point improving his decision-making to swing.
April 21, 20187 yr It’s sure not Kingham. I don’t think this staff is good enough to have an ace. I think a jack is the best we have.

Still pitches like a freshman but he has the stuff. Best HS pitcher I’ve ever seen (granted it hasn’t been much).

Probably time people stop making fun of Shugart. He's probably our best starter right now. Edited April 21, 20187 yr by texasstrong12
April 21, 20187 yr This was about the time last year that Shugart became our most dependable bullpen arm. If the lightbulb comes on for the other two starters, we may be set to make a run.
April 21, 20187 yr Nice to get Zubia going. Some decent pitching as well. Gotta get the sweep and then back to some grinding on the conference road trips.
April 21, 20187 yr Nice wins. Let's get a sweep tomorrow. Good momentum for the remaining grind.......Little luck and we get a Regional.

April 22, 20187 yr Yea I just got home still drunk watching highlights. What's it to you? If I haven't said so already, Keith and Greg (AND ONLY Keith and Greg) in the booth is so much better than Lowell involved in any baseball broadcasts. I'm sorry but it's true. Nothing will top Craig and Keith in the booth on radio, though. Brings back a lot of Omaha memories remembering their calls. Edited April 22, 20187 yr by X-Wing @Aliciousness
April 22, 20187 yr Running with your best hitter up when you are already in scoring position ungood Edited April 22, 20187 yr by Armypilot
April 22, 20187 yr I don't understand the need to get Ham to 3rd there on the caught stealing. He can score easily from second. 🙄🙄

April 22, 20187 yr Agreed that there was no reason to send Hamilton. All it does is set up one shot at a sac fly, but he's scoring from second on any hit out of the infield and you've got two shots at that already.

April 22, 20187 yr Our starting pitchers... smh. They’ve been getting touched up all weekend against this team nice catch by Shaw to end the frame. 0-3, middle of the 3rd
April 22, 20187 yr Assuming we make the tourney, it's going to be really strange and "interesting" to have such gigantic question marks at pitcher.
April 22, 20187 yr McKenzie hitting around .220 with no power. No reason he should be the starting 1st baseman for a program like Texas.

April 22, 20187 yr 2 minutes ago, Armypilot said: You mean exposing Not quite sure what you mean. I just mean in the past and for many years, pitching has been the least of our worries and we could count on a couple of good starts before things got weird when we got out of rotation on a tournament schedule. It's going to be weird and scary from Game 1 of the regional.

April 22, 20187 yr 9 minutes ago, Armypilot said: I mean with not much depth we could get exposed. But then again they might go on a run Oh yeah. Not sure it's a great exposure. Just kind of switch from the usual weak hitting/strong pitching and I assume the baseball world knows what's up. And It strikes me that a run, like 2014, is more sustainable or even possible with good pitching. Seems much rarer to all of the sudden get strong performances from a bunch of spotty pitchers than for some weak hitters to go on a tear. And in 2014, if memory serves, no one really went on a full blown tear, we just got some timely hits from people in low-scoring games (because of, again, pitching).
