Think these are live oaks, and noticed recently one in particular has these fuzzy leaf-like things and another has webs/brown spots on the leaves.  Any thoughts?  I’ll hang up and listen.

Are those little leaf-like, flat, fuzzy things immature leaves infected by the webworms?

It's probably just leaf spot (I know I've given you two very originally named problems).

Well I’m no arborist.  If y’all need different pics let me know.  Just trying to get an idea of what the issue is and see if I can address it myself.

watch your back, bro.

but they might be cedar elm seedpods (pic one).

pic 2 looks like a live oak with a fungal infection.  does it dump its leaves ahead of the other (genuine) live oaks?  call an arborist.

pic 3 looks like arboreal armageddon with AIDS and maybe the herp (on another cedar elm).  update your will.

I was hoping that it was like one of those trees that you see off the ski lift.

pic one: you got a cedar elm with seed pods. That is what its supposed to do. Stop worrying.

pic two: fungal infection. Get that shit taken care of before it spreads. Call an arborist. You might need to spray at some point. Rake up and burn (if possible) or bag and get rid of all the leaves.

pic three: web worms (which are actually caterpillars). You can use sprays and Bt, but those will also kill good guys, like monarchs and such. Unsightly, but really no big deal. Just cut out all the affected branches, kill all the worms (stomping or fire). Be ruthless, and do it now. Tree should be fine.

And learn what the fuck an oak is.

edit: You could also use a rake or something and tear holes in the web worm webs, crack open a cold one, and watch the birds feast. If your cat hasn't killed all the birds that is.

I fucking hate cedar elms so much. Seems like they are always dropping something. Man, fuck those guys.
